Meet Donna Saker

We recently connected with Donna Saker and have shared our conversation below.

Donna, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
As far as I can remember I have always been a generous person. I was raised that way and inherited from my Mother

She taught me to always remember the kind of impact you can have on someone’s life, whether it’s generosity with words or actions

That quickly moved into a pay-it- forward life for me …. I realized helping others is not only a beautiful way to love your life, but the impact it has on others is priceless

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have worked in radio and television for over 37 years, in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and now Montreal

For years I worked in morning radio and that eventually turned into my own radio show here in Montreal

I just celebrated my 15th anniversary at The Beat 92.5 Montreal with a #1 show

My topics range on everything and I try to be relatable to everyone so that all the listeners feel included and important on my show

I recently took 30 people to New York City who won the trip to celebrate my 15th anniversary at the station ! One of the best experiences ever !

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First and foremost being humble Remind yourself often you are replaceable but work and act like you aren’t

Say yes to a lot of things, even if it’s not that appealing … you might surprise yourself how much you learn

Listen. Listen to constructive guidance to improve your skills and don’t take it personally

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Often in the media you can feel overwhelmed, whether it’s the constant bad news in the world, or negativity directed at you on social media

Step back. Breathe. Remind yourself that negativity is not a direct reflection on you but the person flinging it at you

Take breaks from social media … be more present …. So things you enjoy to nurture yourself
