Meet Dora Tramel

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dora Tramel . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dora, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I constantly recreate myself and learn new crafts. I have learned my boundaries, triggers and emotions therefore. I think of every situation as a learning opportunity instead of a situation that I am stuck in or need. When I get burnt out from the politics within the restaurant industry; I got my health insurance license, I became an hvac/plumbing installer, I worked on food trucks, I worked gig jobs in commercial kitchens. I learned aspects of the restaurant and hospitality industry that would help me further on down the road in business but would still allow me to be of service to others and fulfill God’s purpose for me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a chef, entrepreneur, and soon to be philanthropist! I created my catering business, DAT’s Good Cooking in 2016 and my food delivery business DAT’s Good Egg Rolls in 2022. DAT’s Good Egg Rolls makes egg rolls from scratch with fresh ingredients. We take culturally diverse dishes wrap them in our handmade egg roll wrapper and deep fry them, then pair them with fermented smoked salsa and various chutneys from our sister company DAT’s Good Cooking.
I want to provide services such as concessions, catering, nutritional healthcare in senior citizen facilities along with providing cultural authentic, food products that cut down on cooking times but provide the same flavor you crave from DAT’s Good Cooking.

DAT’s Good Egg Rolls will be a successful late night fast food chain such as McDonald’s, Subway, Domino’s
I am working to grow my businesses so that they will provide for not just me but the employees that help me build and keep my businesses successful.

I am currently working on starting a non-profit that will help unite black and hispanic restaurant/hospitality workers.
My non-profit will provide esl classes, Spanish speaking classes, culinary skill development and career development opportunities.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three qualities are hard work, versatility and resilience.

Early in your journey learn to work hard, stay on your toes, to pivot especially when no one believes in your dreams except for you. You are going to fail but find another way and another way and another way, talk to God. You can get over the mountain even if you have to crawl OVER the mountain or check every cave as you pass THROUGH the mountain.
Make chasing your dreams an adventure not just something you want to do.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Communicating and patience. I have learned to communicate my ideas and feelings more clearly. I learned to value myself. Sometimes my mind floods with ideas and I just want to rush out and do whatever comes up in my head, spending money, creating new products because I know it’s a hit, right. At the same time, I’m spinning my wheels because I haven’t managed to accomplish my other goals that could really make EVERYTHING successful. I have learned to be patient not skip around looking for success in business. There is no short cut!
