Meet Dorian Rogers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dorian Rogers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dorian , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I honestly get my resilience from my life experiences and mother. I am a teenage mother. I had my older two children at 16 and 17 years old but still graduated high school with honors at the top 10% of my class of 800 students and went to college and received my bachelors degree. Going through this taught me that there is never a reason to give up! Find the right support system and keep pushing through because today with me experiencing that i know that there is nothing that I really cannot accomplish if I stay determined and never give up working towards the goal.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood with the mortgage lady in red! Getting people into their homes no matter if they are a first time homebuyer or a repeating buyer is my true goal and career. I analysis the big 3 (credit, income and assets) to set up a real action plan for families to be able to purchase a home. If you have credit issues, we will set you up on a credit plan. If you have income issues, I have a career coach that will help you gain better employment. If you have assets issues, I will work with you on a budget so that we are able to get you into a place when you can save From the beginning to the end and every step of the way i will hold you hand and make homeownership possible for you!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most important qualities that have impacted my journey are the fact that I love to learn, having patience and keeping God first. Real estate is not a cookie cutter career and everyday the market changes so always staying up to day and learning the new guidelines, rules and programs is always never ending but very much necessary. Everybody situation is also different so having the patience to explain things to people so that they truly understand how it may effect them is crucial. Honestly, i would not be able to do any of these things though if I did not have the skill to always keep God first. He is really the one that provides and make sure that everything within my business is always flowing an d moving. For a successful business and career I would highly suggest that you root yourself into a belief system that will assist you on your journey.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

It is so easy to feel overwhelmed when you have your own business but doing Pilates has been my holy grail! This is my outlet where I am able to clear my head and focus on how my body is reacting and my breaths which actually helps when I am overwhelm in work. It helps remind me to breath because everything will be okay and everything will always be handled.
