Meet Dorsey Nguyen

We were lucky to catch up with Dorsey Nguyen recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dorsey, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic definitely comes from my mother. She is the hardest working person that I know. I watched her work as a teacher assistant during the day, go to school for her real estate license at night and be a mom 24/7. Even though she was busy, she would always make time for me as a child. She showed me that you really have to work hard and smart to become what you want to be.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hi I’m Dorsey Nguyen and I’m a Videographer & Co-founder of Just Eatz Media. I’ve been taking photos and doing videos most of my life, professionally, around 12 years now. I’ve been truly blessed to be able to do what I enjoy day in and day out. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely sometimes a Love/Hate relationship at times but its mostly love. I’ve been freelancing photo & video since after college and decided to start Just Eatz Media with my bestfriend and now business partner Lester Balila. We decided to take our skill sets and help curate content for local businesses. We want people to consume our content…just eat our content hahaha. Get it? *Ta dum tshhh*

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Authenticity, empathy and open mindedness are the 3 qualities that I believe were the most impactful qualities and skills that have helped me tremendously through my journey. I’ve learned that people do business with people and not companies. As in, they need to believe in you first before believing in whatever you’re selling. So learning to be your authentic self means knowing who you are, what you stand for, and staying true to your values. This leads to greater self-confidence and a strong sense of purpose. Empathy will not only help you by putting you into others’ shoes but I love using it to create inclusive and supportive environments. When people are more comfortable with you, they’ll want to work with you. Open mindedness will help you adapt to the every changing world….and o boy it changes quite a bit and at a very rapid pace. Together, these qualities will help you create a well-rounded, compassionate, and intelligent point-of-view that will help you thrive in both personal and professional settings.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who is as authentic as I am. I value working with people who are genuine, honest, and upfront about their intentions because it helps create a foundation of trust and mutual respect with each other. Over the years, I’ve encountered many individuals who operate with ulterior motives or hidden agendas…..and that’s never fun to work with. When someone is truly authentic, collaboration feels effortless, and we can focus on creating meaningful work rather than navigating unnecessary pretenses. I appreciate clients who are transparent in their communication, open to honest feedback, and aligned with a shared purpose. At the end of the day, I’d rather work with someone real and imperfect than someone who puts on a facade.
