Meet Doug Mithun

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Doug Mithun. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Doug, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

Giving back hasn’t always been a part of my life but now it’s something I can’t live without. Marcia my wife has always had a generous heart and gives her time and energy to helping others. I embrace the thought that when we are blessing to others our lives will also be blessed. I have seen how this has transformed my life and relationships in a very meaningful way. We all need to be a little better and do a little more to make our community and world a better place.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My wife Marcia and I are passionate about serving in our community and making a difference in every thing we do. We strive to help others and with our faith feel compelled to give our time and talents to making our community a better place.
My career as a Financial advisor follows my passion of helping. I am able to give my clients the clarity and confidence that they will succeed in their financial goals. I also help my clients find their purpose in retirement as many feel lost after long and successful careers.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Patience
Serenity
Passion
Energy

Patience and serenity go hand in hand. We need to learn to accept things that we cannot control and have the patience when things do not go as planned
Passion and energy we sometimes find something we are passionate about but lose the energy that it takes to move forward of finish what we started.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My wife Marcia, she has been my North Star my guiding light. Her faith along with her love of everyone has taught me to be the same. I am truly blessed to have her as my partner and my spiritual mentor.
The way she looks at life with the same wonder and innocence as a child has is such a gift.
