We recently connected with Douglas Spradlin and have shared our conversation below.
Douglas, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I was raised in the church. I was raised to help everyone and anyone if they were in need of help. I was taught to be helpful and to be a part of something more than myself. The phrase it takes a village isn’t just something you say, it takes action on everyone’s part to have a thriving and meaningful community.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the owner and operator of Standard Grooming Supply. SGS is a male focused salon and lifestyle shop. I am known as The Beard Mechanic. I cut hair and sculpt beards all day. I have made my own line of multifunctional oil I market and sell as beard oil. You can use it to shave with, as a daily moisturizer, or a light fragrance . Any human can use it. My goal is to help men learn to love themselves in all the forms. It starts with a haircut and grooming to help you look and feel better. I have a shop with everything from organic bedding, health and wellness products, well thought out hand picked clothing and accessories, great shoes, and much more. I want people to think more about the things they buy, what they put in and on the body’s. It’s long term think on how to elevate yourself.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Don’t be afraid to fail.
2. Be kind and grateful.
Don’t compare your self to others.
Stay focused on what you are doing and your clients.
When we spend all our time worried about what our “ competition “ is doing we are truly focused on what is important, that is your clients. Figure out what is working best for you and your clients and continue to build on that.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband has been my rock, my voice of reason, and my inspiration. Justin really helps me step back and focus and be better. I have learned from
Many people throughout my life but he has been the best business partner. He truly helps me navigate and helps me hone in on the future.
