Meet Douyé

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Douyé. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Douyé below.

Hi Douyé, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Life experiences: I have always viewed life as my best teacher because it exposes me to various experiences that allow me to build my sense of resilience. I feel one becomes resilient by being open to the experiences that life exposes one to. Through those experiences, one taps from one’s external and internal resources toward overcoming the event and gaining understanding and wisdom that one could apply to future events.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an artist, a jazz singer. I think it is great to express yourself through singing. Singing jazz can be challenging because it requires a certain sound that fits the genre. However, if one is born to do it and willing to continue to hone one’s skills in it, then it’s possible.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey?

Determined, Questful, and Positive

The elements mentioned have always kept me grounded and focused, allowing me to forge ahead in my artistic journey.

What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think first to know who you are and utilize that to craft your artistic goals.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Myself… I can only rely on myself. If I need something done, I quest to gain the information I need to attain it.
