We recently connected with Dr. Benita Safaryans FABORM, DAOM, LAc. and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Benita , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I didn’t find my purpose all at once—it revealed itself over time through lived experience. I’ve always been drawn to understanding the body, healing, and why people suffer the way they do, not just physically but emotionally and energetically. Early on, I realized that many systems focus on managing symptoms rather than truly listening to the person in front of them. That never sat right with me.
My purpose became clearer as I moved through my own challenges and watched people close to me struggle with chronic pain, stress, and conditions that weren’t being fully addressed. I saw how powerful it was when someone finally felt heard and supported, and how transformative real, individualized care could be. Acupuncture and East Asian medicine gave me a framework that aligned with how I already viewed healing—as something holistic, layered, and deeply human.
Over time, my purpose expanded beyond treating symptoms. It became about empowering people to understand their bodies, restore balance, and reclaim agency over their health. Building my practice has been an extension of that purpose—creating a space where science, tradition, and compassion meet, and where healing is not rushed or minimized. Looking back, every step I took, even the difficult ones, quietly guided me here.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At the core of what I do is helping people feel at home in their bodies again. As an acupuncture physician, I specialize in women’s health, fertility, and pain management, but my work goes far beyond symptom relief. I focus on understanding the root causes of imbalance—whether that’s chronic stress, hormonal shifts, trauma, or long-standing pain—and creating personalized treatment plans that support true, sustainable healing.
What excites me most about my work is watching people reconnect with their own resilience. Many of my patients come in feeling frustrated or unheard after trying multiple approaches. East Asian medicine allows me to look at the whole picture—physical, emotional, and energetic—and treat the person, not just the diagnosis. That depth of care is something I’m deeply committed to, and it’s what shapes every aspect of my practice.
My brand is built on intention, education, and empowerment. I believe patients should understand their bodies and feel actively involved in their healing process. Creating a calm, grounded space where people feel safe, supported, and seen is just as important to me as the treatments themselves.
As my practice continues to evolve, I’m excited about expanding my offerings to include more integrative services and educational resources that support long-term wellness. Whether it’s through new programs, collaborations, or community-focused initiatives, my goal is to make holistic care more accessible and to help people move through life with greater balance, clarity, and vitality.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first is the ability to listen deeply—to people, to patterns, and to myself. Early on, I learned that real progress comes from paying attention, not rushing to fix or prove something. Developing this meant slowing down, asking better questions, and being willing to sit with uncertainty. For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate patience and curiosity. You learn far more by observing and listening than by trying to have all the answers right away.
The second is resilience. There were many moments where the path forward felt unclear or discouraging, and what kept me moving wasn’t certainty—it was persistence. Resilience is built through experience, especially through setbacks. Instead of viewing challenges as signs to stop, see them as opportunities to refine your direction. Give yourself permission to evolve, and don’t measure progress only by external milestones.
The third is a commitment to lifelong learning. The most meaningful growth in my career came when I stopped seeing education as something that ends with a degree or certification. Staying open to learning—whether through continued training, mentorship, or personal reflection—keeps your work honest and dynamic. My advice is to invest in both technical skills and self-awareness. The combination of knowledge and emotional intelligence is what allows you to show up with clarity and confidence over time.
Ultimately, the journey isn’t about becoming perfect or having everything figured out. It’s about staying engaged, staying curious, and allowing your experiences to shape you in ways that feel aligned and authentic.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m very open to collaboration, especially with professionals who value integrative care and patient outcomes. I’m particularly drawn to working with fertility specialists, including OB-GYNs and IVF physicians, because acupuncture has been shown to support reproductive health and improve the chances of successful fertility outcomes when used alongside conventional care. Collaborative relationships in this space allow patients to feel supported from multiple angles, both medically and holistically.
I also work closely with attorneys on personal injury cases to help patients manage pain, recover function, and improve quality of life following accidents or injuries. These collaborations are important to me because they ensure patients receive consistent, well-documented care while navigating what can often be a stressful and complex process.
In general, I’m most interested in partnering with professionals who value communication, integrity, and a truly collaborative approach to care. For anyone reading this who’s interested in working together, the best way to connect is through my clinic or professional platforms. I’m always open to conversations that lead to meaningful partnerships and better outcomes for the people we serve.
