Meet Dr. Calenthia Miller

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Calenthia Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dr. Calenthia, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Over the course of my life, I have encountered numerous obstacles and hurdles that have tested my resilience and ability to adapt. Through these challenges, I have gained a deeper understanding of my capabilities and strengths and the importance of a positive mindset in overcoming adversity.

Whether dealing with a difficult personal situation, facing a daunting academic or professional challenge, or navigating a major life change, I have always approached each situation with an open mind and a willingness to learn. These experiences have taught me how to be resourceful, flexible, and creative in finding solutions to problems, as well as how to stay calm and focused under pressure.

As a result, I have developed a strong sense of resilience and an unwavering determination to succeed, no matter what obstacles may come my way. I am confident that I can tackle any challenge with grace and poise and will emerge from each experience even stronger and more capable than before.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a highly accomplished individual who has dedicated my career to healthcare administration, education, and mentoring. As the CEO of A’Lure Publishing, LLC, Activating Excellence Consulting, LLC, and Canvas of Thoughts, LLC, I have been instrumental in promoting excellence in healthcare and inspiring others to reach their full potential. I have a passion for learning, evident from a young age. I have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, both of which were achieved with distinction. I also received a Doctorate in Healthcare Management with a minor in Leadership and have completed several certifications in healthcare administration and management.

In addition, I have taught as an adjunct professor at multiple community colleges in Virginia for over a decade. My teaching style is known for being engaging, informative, and inspiring. She has a talent for making complex concepts easy to understand and motivating her students to achieve their goals.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In pursuing success, one must possess the three essential qualities of patience, determination, and humility. These traits serve as the bedrock for achieving one’s goals and reaching new professional and personal development heights. Patience allows individuals to remain focused and steadfast in the face of adversity, while determination fuels the drive to overcome obstacles and persevere toward success. Humility, on the other hand, fosters a healthy sense of self-awareness and the understanding that one’s journey to success is a collaborative effort that requires the help of others. By embodying these qualities, one can create a strong foundation for their journey toward success.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I remember to love myself. It is an essential yet complex concept that encompasses different things. It goes beyond just taking time to care for yourself. It involves taking proactive steps to promote inner peace, such as practicing meditation, engaging in healthy activities, and promoting your me moments by treating yourself to things like a facial or massage.

Furthermore, it could also mean indulging in a luxurious staycation at a nice hotel, allowing yourself to be pampered and cared for, even if only for a short time. Loving yourself affirms your worthiness to receive love, care, support, and adoration. It means recognizing that you deserve these things and should not settle for less.
It is essential to understand that your words have value in your life and the lives of others. Therefore, committing to loving yourself unconditionally, without any boundaries, is crucial. Doing so can create a positive and healthy relationship with yourself, ultimately leading to a better quality of life.
