Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Ehsan Bashi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. Bashi, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline comes from a combination of personal values, life experiences, and a strong sense of purpose. Growing up, I was taught the importance of setting goals and working diligently to achieve them. I’ve also faced challenges that required me to stay focused and persevere, which strengthened my ability to remain disciplined even when things get tough.
Additionally, I believe self-discipline is about understanding the long-term benefits of consistent effort. Whether it’s in my professional or personal life, I’ve seen how small, intentional actions add up to significant results over time. I’ve developed habits like planning ahead, staying organized, and holding myself accountable, which help me stay on track.
Ultimately, my discipline stems from a desire to live up to my potential and make meaningful contributions, whether it’s to my team, my profession, or those I serve.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My journey to becoming a physical therapist and eventually the clinical director of Elite Performance Clinic has been one of hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to helping others. My passion for the human body and its potential to heal and perform at its best drove me to pursue physical therapy. Along the way, I realized the importance of a holistic approach to wellness—one that goes beyond injury recovery to encompass every aspect of physical health.
Elite Performance Clinic (EPC) is the result of a shared vision that my partners and I have worked tirelessly to bring to life. Together, we’ve created a clinic that provides patients with access to a wide range of wellness services, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, athletic training, and medical optimization. Our mission is to set the bar for physical wellness by offering a truly comprehensive approach to care under one roof.
The journey to building EPC has not been easy. Along the way, we faced significant challenges that tested our resolve, from financial hurdles to the complexities of establishing a multidisciplinary clinic. These experiences, however, taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of collaboration. They also deepened my appreciation for what can be achieved through teamwork and shared determination.
Today, as the clinical director of EPC, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. Our clinic stands as a testament to what is possible when passion, expertise, and collaboration come together. Our goal is to transform lives by setting a new standard for physical wellness and performance.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I would say the three most impactful qualities in my journey were resilience, collaboration, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Resilience was essential in navigating the inevitable challenges and setbacks that came with building my career and helping establish Elite Performance Clinic. Whether it was overcoming obstacles during my education, managing the complexities of opening a clinic, or handling the day-to-day pressures of running a multidisciplinary practice, resilience kept me focused on the bigger picture.
Collaboration was just as critical. Elite Performance Clinic is the result of teamwork and shared vision. Learning to work effectively with others, value diverse perspectives, and build strong partnerships has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. It taught me that success is rarely achieved alone—it’s the collective effort that makes the greatest impact.
Lastly, a commitment to lifelong learning has been pivotal. In the fields of healthcare and wellness, advancements are constant, and staying informed is non-negotiable. I’ve found that actively seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge, whether through courses, mentorship, or simply staying curious, has allowed me to grow and bring the best possible care to my patients.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace challenges as opportunities to build resilience. Lean into teamwork and learn from those around you—relationships and collaboration will carry you further than individual effort alone. And above all, never stop learning. Stay curious, seek feedback, and remain open to growth because that mindset will set you apart in any field.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person who has been most helpful in my journey is my father, Dr. Khalil Bashi, PhD. As a physical therapist, university professor, and respected researcher with numerous published papers—most notably on patellofemoral pain syndrome—he has been a constant source of knowledge, inspiration, and guidance.
From an early age, he instilled in me a deep appreciation for the science behind physical therapy and the profound impact it can have on people’s lives. Watching his dedication to both his patients and his academic work taught me the importance of discipline, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. He didn’t just teach me technical skills; he showed me how to think critically, stay humble, and always strive to improve.
When I faced challenges, whether in my education, clinical practice, or while helping to establish Elite Performance Clinic, my father’s advice and mentorship were invaluable. He not only provided practical guidance but also encouraged me to approach every obstacle as a learning opportunity. His belief in my abilities gave me the confidence to persevere, and his example continues to inspire me to set high standards for myself and for the care we provide at EPC.
I owe much of my success to the foundation he helped me build, and I strive to carry forward the values and principles he exemplified in his own career.
