Meet Dr. Elijah Frazier

We recently connected with Dr. Elijah Frazier and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Elijah , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding purpose often arises from the ashes of adversity. As a child, I found myself thrust into a world of uncertainty, homelessness and instability after being kicked out of my home. These years were formative in a way I could never have anticipated, laying the groundwork for the person I would eventually become. I scraped through high school, barely, with a diploma in my hand but without a clear vision for my future.

In the pursuit of something greater, I enrolled in college, only to find myself dropping out soon after. The academic structure seemed too rigid, too removed from the real-world problems I had experienced firsthand. Despite this, I wasn’t ready to surrender. I could see the glimmer of a larger purpose awaiting me, just out of reach.

Then, a shift occurred. I made a decision that forever changed my trajectory: I chose to become what I needed most during my times of despair. I decided to be the guide, the beacon of hope, the mentor who could provide comfort and direction to those feeling lost. I turned my focus towards counseling, the perfect avenue to effect the purpose-based change I envisioned.

The road was not easy. Returning to academics was a challenge, a grueling test of resilience. Yet, I was fueled by the transformation I sought, for myself and others. I pulled through and eventually held my Ph.D. in counseling, a testament to my journey and the resolve that carried me.

I found my purpose amidst the struggles, the hurdles, and the failures. Or rather, my purpose found me. It nudged me onto a path where I could bring about change, where I could make a real impact. It wasn’t enough to merely land on my feet; I wanted to ensure others could as well. So, I dedicated my life to people, guiding them toward having a plan, a purpose, and a direction.

Today, I stand as a national public speaker and a best-selling author, using my experiences and education to help others. I have found a vehicle for change through mental and emotional health, enabling me to plug people into their unique purpose. My past experiences, my education, and my dedication to others have been woven into a tapestry of purpose-driven life. This is my story, and it’s just the beginning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As I navigated these challenges, I realized my purpose was to become what I needed most during those trying times. The birth of Prophet, my consulting firm, was the manifestation of that realization.

At Prophet, we help individuals not just to survive, but to thrive. We create tailor-made financial and life plans that empower individuals to create and leave lasting legacies. Our services aren’t confined to standard life insurance and investments. We provide services unique to each individual, student, and entrepreneur. These services range from career placement assistance and college advisement for students to marketing and talent acquisition services for entrepreneurs. We see our work as ‘life insurance and investments, reimagined.’

What’s exciting about Prophet is our innovative and holistic approach to financial security. We believe that financial well-being is intrinsically linked with personal and professional fulfillment. To that end, we’ve designed our services to reflect the values, goals, and passions of our clients. Prophet is not merely a consulting firm—it’s a bridge to a secure and purposeful future.

In addition to being the founder of Prophet, I’ve channeled my experiences and insights into becoming a national public speaker and bestselling author. I’ve found the medium of mental and emotional health to be an incredible vehicle to help people connect to their purpose. My goal is to inspire others to move beyond their challenges and embrace their unique purpose, much like I did.

As for what’s new and exciting, we’re continuously expanding and adapting our offerings at Prophet to better serve our clients. We’re looking forward to launching a new range of services in the near future that further our commitment to help our clients live purposeful and financially secure lives.

In essence, the experiences that once threatened to derail me have become the fuel that drives my purpose. My story is proof that purpose can find us in the most unexpected of places, and with Prophet, I aim to guide others to discover their own purpose and live a fulfilled life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. **Resilience**: Being homeless, scraping through high school, and initially dropping out of college, resilience was my lifeline. It’s the quality that saw me through those challenging times and ultimately led me to pursue my PhD in counseling. My advice to those at the beginning of their journey is to cultivate resilience. Understand that it’s okay to falter or stumble, but what truly matters is your ability to get back up. Embrace each challenge as an opportunity for growth.

2. **Purpose-Driven Mindset**: Discovering my purpose amidst adversity was transformative. It fueled my motivation and steered my actions. To those embarking on their journeys, I suggest investing time in self-reflection to discern your purpose. It’s not about finding the grandest purpose, but one that resonates with your core. Your purpose should fuel your passion and motivate you to strive for better, even when the odds seem stacked against you.

3. **Holistic Understanding of Financial Security**: As I built Prophet, my understanding of financial security grew to be more than just amassing wealth. It involves creating a legacy, planning for the future, and aligning financial goals with personal values. To those who are early in their journey, I recommend learning about financial planning from a holistic perspective. Don’t limit your understanding to numbers and graphs. Consider how finances interact with other aspects of life, including personal goals, well-being, and even mental health.

In conclusion, your journey might take unexpected turns, but remember to stay resilient, keep your purpose in sight, and maintain a holistic perspective. These are the cornerstones of success, regardless of where your journey may lead you.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Without a doubt, my biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been achieving a more profound balance between health and hustle. In our pursuit of success, it’s easy to become engrossed in the hustle, overlooking the necessity of maintaining our health. However, in the past year, I’ve made it my mission to prioritize my mental and physical well-being, realizing that they’re the backbone of sustained productivity and success.

I’ve learned that incessant hustling can lead to burnout, impair creativity, and undermine the very success we seek. I’ve made conscious changes to put my health first, adopting regular exercise, healthier dietary habits, and mindfulness practices. This balance has not only enhanced my personal well-being but has also fueled my performance and efficiency.

A critical part of this process has been embracing the present. Earlier, I often found myself consumed by the future – always planning, strategizing, and worrying about what’s to come. It was as if the future was robbing me of my present. Over the past year, I’ve worked diligently on grounding myself in the present, appreciating the here and now, and understanding that the best way to predict the future is to create it in the present.

While planning is essential, I’ve realized that life isn’t something that happens in some distant future, but rather, it’s happening right now. By shifting my focus to the present, I’ve been able to enjoy my journey more, alleviate stress, and ultimately, deliver better in my role at Prophet.

To sum it up, the last 12 months have been a journey of personal growth and learning, teaching me the significance of health before hustle and the importance of living in the present. It’s a continuous process, but the strides I’ve made have been transformative, positively impacting both my personal life and my work at Prophet.
