Meet Dr. Faith James

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Faith James a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Faith, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13 is my go to scripture to build and maintain confidence. I have learned early on to trust God’s word about me vs. what my subconscious mind wants me to believe. Confidence and self-esteem is a spiritual practice that requires daily work. It’s not initially easy but it will develop through practice and obedience. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 is what drives this obedience. We know that obedience to God is the minimum. One of my fave quotes is from Sherly Chislom, “When they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” And truth be told, there were seasons where I felt invisible in rooms, even with a seat at the table. But when I began to own my story and my identity—truly own it—I saw that my difference was my distinction. And I soon realized that when I stand in my truth and power it gives others permission to also show up and stand in their truths as well. Speaking on stages, mentoring others, and seeing lives changed because I showed up as my full authentic self— reinforced the truth that confidence is available to all, and it’s up to each person to stake their own claim to it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities on my journey have been: unshakable faith, clarity of purpose, and effective communication.

Unshakable Faith:
There were so many moments where logic said stop, but God said go. Faith helped me walk through doors that hadn’t even opened yet. My advice: Cultivate your spiritual life. Start each day with prayer and the Word. Trust that if God gave you the vision, He will also give you provision.

Clarity of Purpose:
Knowing why I do what I do has helped me say yes to the right things—and no to distractions. Purpose is the anchor. My advice: Take the time to ask God, “Why was I created?” Then align your decisions, goals, and connections to that answer.

Effective Communication:
The ability to articulate your vision, your value, and your distinction are essential. In a world where there are so many choices this gives people the reason to choose you over others. My advice: Practice your message. Speak it. Write it. Share it. Be authentic, not polished—people respond to real.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is purpose-driven, faith-rooted, and ready to activate their next level. They’re not just chasing success—they’re pursuing significance. Whether they’re an entrepreneur, leader, or visionary, they feel a divine nudge that there’s more inside of them that the world needs to see. They’re willing to do the heart work and the hard work. They value excellence, integrity, and legacy. The best clients are those who are ready to align their brand with their Kingdom calling—and aren’t afraid to be boldly visible while doing it.
