Meet Dr. Jaime G. Raygoza

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Jaime G. Raygoza a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Jaime G., we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

For me, confidence and self-esteem didn’t come naturally, they were forged through adversity and a lot of intentional inner work. Early in my career, I struggled with imposter syndrome as a gay, first-generation Mexican-American professional. I often felt like I had to work twice as hard just to earn a seat at the table, and I internalized a lot of self-doubt. The turning point came after a period of severe burnout that led to a near-fatal car accident. That experience forced me to reevaluate my priorities and the way I saw myself. I started therapy, leaned into community, and began practicing self-compassion. I also sought out mentors and coaches who helped me see my unique strengths and value. Over time, I learned to honor my story, embrace my differences, and use my lived experiences to empower others. Today, my confidence comes from knowing that authenticity is my superpower and that showing up as my whole self is what inspires others to do the same.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the founder of Rainbow Career Coaching, where I help LGBTQ+ professionals and allies unleash their “unicorn”, their unique strengths and authentic selves in both career and life. My work blends career coaching, stress management, and holistic well-being, with a special focus on burnout prevention, confidence building, and inclusive leadership. What excites me most is witnessing clients transform limiting beliefs into bold action, and seeing entire teams become more inclusive and resilient. I offer 1:1 and group coaching, workshops, Laughter Yoga classes, and online courses. This year, I’m expanding my offerings to include a Wellness Bootcamp and new certifications in stress management and LGBTQ+ inclusion. My mission is to create spaces where everyone feels safe, seen, and empowered to thrive.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Resilience helped me bounce back from setbacks and keep moving forward, even when the path was unclear.
Empathy allowed me to connect deeply with clients and build trust, which is the foundation of any transformative relationship. Lifelong learning kept me adaptable and open to new ideas, which is essential in a rapidly changing world.
My advice, don’t be afraid to ask for help and surround yourself with people who challenge and support you. Practice self-reflection, be kind to yourself, and see every obstacle as an opportunity to grow. Invest in your own development, whether through books, courses, mentors, or simply staying curious.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I believe it’s important to lead with your strengths, because that’s where you’ll find the most fulfillment and impact. When you operate from your strengths, you’re naturally more confident, creative, and energized. That said, I don’t think we should ignore our growth areas entirely. Instead, I see it as a “both/and” approach. Double down on what makes you unique, but also be willing to stretch outside your comfort zone when it serves your goals or your community. For example, I used to avoid public speaking because it made me anxious, but learning that skill has allowed me to reach and inspire more people. Ultimately, the goal is to build a life and career that feel authentic and sustainable, not perfect. Embrace your strengths, but don’t be afraid to grow.
