Hi Dr Lynn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Finding your purpose in life is not always easy. The most crucial thing is to focus on what excites you and fills you with passion. I discovered that my purpose sprang out of the need to help myself. As a burnt-out, overstressed single mother of two, I had to focus on my health so I could support my children, and through this, I developed a passion for holistic health. It became my purpose and my mission – as the saying goes, Physician heal thyself – and with that, I discovered my purpose. and have been practicing and teaching for over 40 years.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I teach holistic health and Karma Yoga and have been for over forty years. I have always focused on providing my students and clients with the most reliable and accurate health information. I believe that integrity is at the heart of great work. The most important thing in life is your health. Without it everything else is meaningless. So, when I interact daily with others by helping them focus on their health and seeing them smile at the end of a class or session, I know I am doing the work I set out to do – focusing on the health of the body, mind, and soul.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say that my tenacity was essential. In life, there are many setbacks. We humans make mistakes, and often those result in failure. But I always saw setbacks as temporary, using my tenacity to keep going. I am also very self-disciplined, and that is required if you are to be successful at anything. Karma Yoga reminds us that we need to keep practicing even when we think we have made it to the top. Athletes don’t stop practicing even if they are excellent at the game. Education would be the third skill. I continually seek out education as I truly believe you are never too old or too educated to stop learning. Learning is a lifelong process. So, tenacity, discipline, and education are the three qualities that impact the journey.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Agism is a challenge, especially in the fitness field. However, because I am in great shape for my age and well-versed in the field, I am able to overcome this challenge. Social media can be a challenge as most of it appears fake, and I am not one for glitz and self-promotion, so that is a bit of a challenge for me. I am trying to learn as much as I can about how to work social media
