Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Miranda Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. Miranda , we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Having grown up in a chaotic household, I’ve had to face the effects of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and it’s been a layered process to find peace amid that. Over the years, I’ve developed a set of practices and boundaries that have allowed me not just to cope but to start reshaping my life and mindset. I run a mindset coaching practice because these tools have allowed me to repeatedly come back through the darkest depths and emerge brighter on the other side. In a weird way, the mental health challenges have been blessings.. but I suppose that’s usually the way it goes. Here are some of what has helped me to persist and create a more stable foundation:
1. Establishing Internal Safety: Coming from a background where chaos was the norm, I’ve learned the importance of creating safety within myself. I do this through grounding practices—like mindfulness, breathwork, and body-based therapies—that help re-regulate my nervous system when triggers arise. These practices remind my body that I’m no longer in that chaotic environment and that I have control now.
2. Reparenting Myself: Growing up without the stability of nurturing guidance, I found reparenting myself to be transformative. I’ve worked to be the caregiver I needed as a child, creating routines and self-compassionate responses when my anxiety or depression flares up. This helps me feel supported from within, soothing those old wounds with understanding rather than judgment.
3. Building Predictable Routines: Chaos often leaves you craving control and consistency, and I’ve embraced a routine that feels stable but flexible. Having set times for work, relaxation, and self-care gives me a sense of predictability and security. I see it like creating my own personal sanctuary—each routine tells my mind and body that I am safe.
4. Therapeutic and Somatic Work: I’ve leaned on support from trauma-informed therapy and somatic practices to help address deep-seated pain and trauma that often manifests physically. These techniques have allowed me to release old patterns, offering a healthier relationship with the emotions I may have buried to survive in a chaotic household. Somatic work, in particular, has been crucial for reconnecting with my body and reducing that constant undercurrent of anxiety.
5. Healing Through Purpose: My work and purpose have become an anchor. Helping others with challenges reminds me that I’m not defined by my past. It fuels me with a sense of meaning, making it easier to push through difficult days because I’m committed to something larger than myself.
6. Accepting the Journey: Finally, I’ve accepted that healing isn’t linear. There are still hard days, but each one reinforces my resilience. Every small victory over anxiety or a moment of calm after a PTSD trigger is a testament to how far I’ve come.
Overall, living with these challenges has reshaped my life and work, deepening my empathy and grounding my purpose. Every step toward healing reminds me that my past doesn’t dictate my future, and that’s a powerful realization to carry forward.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Dr. Miranda Jones, and I’m a naturopathic doctor, registered nurse, mindset coach, certified hypnotherapist, advanced reiki practitioner passionate about holistic mind-body-spirit healing. I’ve always felt a deep calling to guide others in connecting with their true selves and achieving a state of inner harmony, especially those who feel overlooked by traditional approaches. My life’s work integrates functional wellness, mindfulness, energy healing, and subconscious reprogramming to help clients reach a place of balanced well-being and empowerment. I’m here to support, inspire, and guide women on their unique journeys, helping them uncover a path that feels authentic, powerful, and whole.
My brand, SAGA: Soul, Health & Business, is designed for ambitious, sensitive women who are navigating the complex worlds of personal growth and professional ambition. Through this brand, I provide 1:1 coaching to support these women in aligning with their authentic selves, building a sustainable and fulfilling life, and overcoming challenges that stand in the way of their confidence and power.
I’m especially passionate about the intersection of science and spirituality, demystifying complex wellness concepts so that everyone, regardless of their background, can understand and benefit. My aim is to make healing accessible, empowering, and adaptable, tailored to the individual needs of each person who steps into my world.
What I love most about my work is its ability to blend conventional medicine with holistic practices. With my extensive experience in naturopathic medicine, functional protocols, and modalities like meditation, hypnosis, and breathwork, I can offer a uniquely integrative approach. Many clients come to me feeling frustrated after years of seeing specialists or self-diagnosing from countless online resources. My goal is to simplify, personalize, and guide them through a coherent healing journey that empowers them to understand themselves better.
In my coaching practice, I focus on reparenting, inner child work, and nervous system support, which are especially transformative for those with challenging histories, including chaotic upbringings like my own. This personal experience with mental health has added depth and authenticity to my practice, allowing me to connect with clients in a way that feels deeply supportive and genuine.
I’m thrilled to announce a new community I’ll be launching soon, called The Sovereign Collective. This course brings together subconscious work, energy alignment, and self-assessment tools to create a solid foundation for self-awareness, growth, and sustainable well-being. It’s designed as a community where women can safely explore and connect over identity-led confidence, power in alignment and success as an authentic path. “Sovereign” reflects the idea of being the ruler of one’s own life, and “Collective” highlights the community aspect. The vibe is strong, inspiring, and communal, perfect for women who want to feel empowered and in control of their paths.
Additionally, I’m expanding my community offerings soon, focusing on providing regular resources, tools, and workshops that help clients navigate everything from complex wellness to intuitive business strategies. I want to create a safe space for women to explore their strengths, reconnect with their purpose, and feel truly seen and empowered.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three core qualities have been incredibly impactful: resilience, a commitment to lifelong learning, and an ability to connect authentically with others. Each of these elements helped shape not only my career but also the way I approach life. If you are early in your journey, here are a few ways you can develop these traits.
1. Resilience
Growing up in a chaotic household instilled a strong sense of resilience in me, as I was forced to find ways to adapt, stay strong, and keep going despite challenges. This ability to persist became crucial in my career, especially when juggling the demands of building a business, dealing with personal struggles, and learning to balance my own wellness.
Advice for Developing Resilience:
– Lean into adversity as an opportunity for growth. Every setback or challenge offers lessons that build your inner strength.
– Practice self-compassion, especially when things don’t go as planned. Remember that resilience isn’t about “toughing it out” but about being kind to yourself and finding healthy ways to keep moving forward.
– Set micro-goals and celebrate small wins. Building resilience is like strengthening a muscle; the more you challenge yourself with manageable, meaningful goals, the stronger you become.
2. Commitment to Lifelong Learning
My journey is deeply rooted in my desire to understand the mind-body connection, wellness, and the human spirit. From becoming a naturopathic doctor to training in hypnosis and mind-body healing, I continuously seek new knowledge and approaches to better serve my clients. This commitment to learning has kept my work dynamic and relevant, and it also enables me to approach challenges with an open mind.
Advice for Cultivating Lifelong Learning:
– Stay curious and don’t limit yourself to traditional learning methods. Attend workshops, read books, or listen to podcasts in your field (and outside of it) to expand your knowledge.
– Seek mentors and communities that encourage growth. Surrounding yourself with others who prioritize learning will inspire you to keep going, especially during periods when motivation dips.
– Embrace feedback as an essential part of growth. Early in your journey, seek feedback actively—whether from peers, clients, or mentors—and view it as a tool for continual improvement.
3. Authentic Connection
Connecting authentically has always been central to my work and life. This quality allows me to truly understand and empathize with others, which is vital for helping people on their healing journeys. Authentic connection isn’t just about relating to others; it’s about being present and vulnerable enough to create genuine trust and mutual respect.
Advice for Building Authentic Connections:
– Practice active listening. Focus on really hearing others without preparing your response. Active listening shows people you value them and deepens connections.
– Share your story and be open about your own journey. Being real with others creates a safe space where they feel comfortable being real with you.
– Stay true to your values. Authenticity comes from knowing and standing by what you believe, even when it’s challenging. – Define your values early on and let them guide your interactions, which builds a strong foundation for trust.
For anyone starting out, these qualities—resilience, lifelong learning, and authentic connection—are all practices. Each one grows with intention, patience, and consistency. Start by integrating them gradually into your daily routines and relationships, and over time, they’ll naturally become part of who you are and how you operate in the world.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was their unwavering belief that I was capable of anything I set my mind to and that I would change the world one day. That confidence became an inner compass, especially in moments of self-doubt or uncertainty. It still is to be honest. It instilled a resilience and ambition that has carried me through challenges, reminding me that I have the power to make a difference, no matter the obstacles.
Their belief was more than just words; it was a foundation that taught me to trust in my abilities and vision. I’d advise anyone with dreams and goals to seek out that belief within themselves. Whether it comes from a parent, a mentor, or self-cultivated confidence, it’s transformative—it helps you step up, take risks, and keep moving forward because you know you’re capable of extraordinary things.
