We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Omai Kofi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Omai, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Then boom! I heard, “Your purpose was to be the egg and to make it into the egg.” After that I felt complete.
I did some discovery and it was trial and tribulation, trial and error, trial by fire. All I had to do was accept me being. Not being successful. Not me being rich. Not me being there for others. Not me being any title or role. Not me being the number one this or that. Just being.
That is my purpose.
Now what I have done with that purpose may vary. But just being at all has been powerful! I am.
I am.
Whatever I say or do after “I Am” can change and or develop into whatever. There are no limits there.
My purpose is to know that I Am. After that, sky is the limit. Literally.
HOW DID I DISCOVER THIS?
By doing what I naturally love to do. By being who I naturally am. By listening to my inner voice. By following my dreams. By leaning more about me though self-assessments.
By seeing others doing what inspired and motivates me.
By wanting to be happy and doing the things that make me happy and staying clear of what doesn’t make me happy.
There were so many things that led me to the day that said, “Your purpose was being the egg and getting into the egg.”
That day cleared a path for me that was undeniable! No one could take me to it nor away from it. I had arrived indefinitely.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
### Who’s That Tall Lady Always Smiling?
Who’s that happy-go-lucky tall lady in yellow who’s always smiling? The one sitting there with the perfect posture and commanding demeanor, who keeps laughing about everything? That’s Omai!
My personal brand is energy! Most would call me refreshing; others would say I’m a full-of-life warrior for my joy. I just say I am happy and resourceful. I take this same happiness frequency into my professional life. My personal brand and my professional brand are identical twins.
To me, business is very personal. I’m huge on treatment, which in a corporate setting equates to stellar customer service and phenomenal client relations. It’s critical that people feel extremely satisfied when dealing with me, my brand, my organizations, and partners. My business thrives on word of mouth since I work primarily in private sectors.
People reach out to me when they want to learn, establish, build, develop, grow, and expand their personal wealth. I adore teaching socioeconomics, especially teaching people how to create their own economies so they can take pride in their own sustainability.
### OMAI, INC.
We do this through our core economic opportunities such as: the Debt 2 Investor Program, The Blackprint Investment Club, Unlearn Poverty Series, and Broke Millionaire Series. Highlighting the Broke Millionaire really quick; be aware that in this controversial series I share mainly the terrible trials and tribulations of my losses through investing and entrepreneurship. All of these initiatives were birthed from our founding opportunity where we flew in African American millionaires and billionaires to hands-on mentor startups and entrepreneurs in their businesses. Community Economic Opportunity (C.E.O.) is a comprehensive foundation on the programs it has birthed and generated to this day. We teach people: “You Are Not Poor, You Are Habits.”
### What Made You an Investor, Dr. O?
My past expertise in marketing and media were the exact confidence boosters I needed to dive into investing. As the Investor Relations Director for an entertainment studio, I began serving as an Executive Producer Training Manager—a job I created for myself, mind you. Working on a sitcom called, “My Parents, My Sister and Me” for ION, I discovered a newfound passion for investing. This was largely due to uncovering the secrets of The Hollywood Triangle.
### The Hollywood Triangle Taught Me Why!
For those who do not know, The Hollywood Triangle is the captivating relationship between 1) production, 2) marketing, and 3) distribution in the entertainment industry. It’s where the magic of content creation (production) meets the strategic brilliance of getting it out there (marketing) and monetizing it (distribution).
However, the Hollywood Triangle, like investing, is not without its conundrums. You can’t get the name (Star) without the money, you can’t get the distribution without the Star, and you can’t get the Star without either. It’s a cycle that can make or break projects and careers.
### The I Quadrant
I faced this challenge head-on and conquered it by, above all else, becoming an investor. With my marketing and media background, I had the insights needed to spot the potential pitfalls and opportunities within the Triangle. I understood that investing in the right areas—whether it’s enhancing production quality, amplifying marketing efforts, or ensuring robust distribution channels—could transform projects from good to groundbreaking.
I focused on the money first. By leveraging my skills and knowledge, I was able to strategically invest in ventures that balanced all three sides of the Hollywood Triangle. This approach not only maximized returns but also fueled my passion for helping others navigate this complex landscape. Now, I apply this same strategic mindset to help people build, develop, and grow their wealth through smart investments.
### I Did Not Come to Inspire You, I Came to Retire You: Becoming a Full-Time Investor
By 2015, I became a professional full-time investor. I invested in real estate (for rental income), businesses (for equity), and cryptocurrency (to combat inflation). I started expanding into more and more areas: infinite banking, stock options trading, and creating private funds.

Although I’ve retired from day-to-day work, I set up Omai, Inc., which fully integrates Omai Management & Alternative Investments. After getting an Alternative Investments Certification from Harvard Business School, I was hooked. It was affirming and confirmed what I was already doing.
### OMAI MANAGEMENT
My new day-to-day involves building private funds and operating as a Wealth Manager for clients who need support in their wealth creation.
### We Create Legacy Plays
What is special about what I do is that everything I undertake always involves Legacy Plays. This means several generations are involved. Dealing with the youth has accelerated my need to mature in various areas, and one of them has been facing the fear of success.
Self-assessments like Myers Briggs and other enneagrams have been incredibly helpful. Getting off social media and away from my phone helps! Doing what I love HOW I LOVE TO DO IT is crucial. I found it wasn’t ultimately a fear of success; it was like Survivor’s Remorse, which I coin as Success Remorse. I vowed to show youth that success is what’s already in them as they journey to discover it!
I am the Founder & President of The Board of Literacy, a state-funded Fin Lit 501(c)(3) that raises the financial quotient of our youth! Through this initiative, we empower young minds to understand and take control of their financial futures, ensuring that the legacy of wealth and knowledge continues for generations to come. Mentorship matching, internships, and practicing budgeting and investing have been our main areas of focus. We have done this in Atlanta, GA, since 2006 and in Dallas, TX, since 2011.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Number one self awareness trumps all awareness.
Secondly, you are your own jackpot. Always bet on you.
Lastly, don’t be hungry then complain about the gathering of the groceries, the food prep, the cooking, and dirty dishes too. – “Eat.”
You want to develop these three qualities quickly? Go here with me; The fastest way up a mountain is a helicopter. Sure the 80 year mountain climber can show you a lot, but honestly a helicopter can too. I said that to say, when you want a million dollars in your bank account, see it in your mind as a millionaire. (Now, not when). Now is now. It’s not about a when. When is always now. See it. Be it.
How would you describe your ideal client?
An ideal client is someone who doesn’t need me. They aren’t scared they are prepared. They have built the engine and need the bolts I garner. “You lead, I guide.” I am here for people who are here for themselves and me. My clients may have never traded stocks, but they are completely open to the process. People who call me may have never raised funds, but they have something worthy of easing them for. Maybe you have never invested or simply want to grow your portfolio, you may need access to money to get started, but you listen and apply the information to get it done. You. I am here for you.
