We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Paulette Salisbury a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Paulette , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Building confidence and self-esteem involves engaging in deep inner work and consistently reminding yourself of your worth. It’s a journey of reprogramming your mind through practices like meditation, breathing exercises, and positive self-talk. True confidence flourishes when you step outside your comfort zone, embrace new experiences, and persevere even in the face of failure. Each mistake offers a lesson, while every small victory adds to your resilience. As you continue to push yourself, you’ll begin to see a transformation—emerging stronger, braver, and more capable than you ever imagined.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In the coming years, my focus is on creating businesses that not only make money but also make a difference. I want to help women around the world prioritize their health, spirituality, and meaningful connections in their lives.
I grew up in a small village in Haiti where there was no running water, electricity, or library. When I arrived in America, I didn’t speak English and had limited resources, but I didn’t let that stop me. I had a dream, and I kept it at the forefront of my mind as I moved forward.
Today, I am the CEO and founder of LuxJet Consulting, www.luxjetconsulting.com a successful private jet service. I’m also an international speaker, personal coach, and spiritual healer. My goal is to inspire women to step out of their comfort zones and build the lives they truly want. Through my books, teachings, and healing practices, I help women let go of self-doubt, reconnect with their true selves, and attract health, love, and success into their lives.
My story shows that with courage, belief, and determination, it’s possible to turn your dreams into reality. Looking ahead, I plan to expand my efforts to reach even more women with new programs, events, and resources that will help them succeed in every aspect of life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My advice for those just starting their journey is to Take the leap, develop a skill that makes you valuable, and never forget the power of kindness. These qualities will take you further than you can imagine.
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone – Growth happens when you challenge yourself. It’s uncomfortable, even scary sometimes, but that’s where learning and transformation begin. If you want to achieve something great, you must be willing to take risks and try new things, even if you fail.
Having a Valuable Skill – Be someone who brings value to others. Whether you’re an electrician, a chef, a plumber, or a baker, having a skill that people need will always provide opportunities. For me, becoming a trained private chef was a game-changer—I knew that no matter what, I could always use that skill to support myself and my family. Not everyone has to be a doctor or a famous singer; what matters is doing something you’re good at and taking pride in it.
Kindness and Respect – This has been one of the most powerful qualities in my journey. As the CEO of LuxJet Consulting, I have traveled with executives of major corporations to some of the most remote places. The people who clean and service the aircraft in those spaces often don’t look or sound like those who own the private jets.
But I always remind myself that kindness is a choice. I treat the cleaning staff with the same respect and warmth as the CEOs because true success isn’t just about what you achieve—it’s about how you treat others along the way.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Expanding LuxJet Consulting into a comprehensive private jet management and charter service presents significant challenges, particularly in an industry that tends to be exclusive and resistant to change. Throughout my nearly 20 years in private aviation, I’ve seldom encountered individuals who look like me traveling on private jets, much less running jet companies. Changing this narrative is no simple task.
Another hurdle I face is securing financing. The aviation sector relies heavily on capital, and investors often lean towards familiar faces. As a woman of color in this field, earning their trust means I must prove myself repeatedly.
To tackle these challenges, I am forming strategic partnerships, educating new audiences about the accessibility of private jets, and allowing excellence to shine through my work. I aim to build a successful business, transform the industry, and create new opportunities for future generations.
