We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Raynetta Stansil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Raynetta below.
Hi Dr. Raynetta , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
During most of my career, I have always been one of few of the black individuals in the room. In addition, I have also been the only African American in the room.I have always lived in the model be myself but also know your audience. I take proud in not code switching. Any company or person that hires me, will have to love me for me and embrace any cultural differences that I bring.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have focused on my career, business, and legacy. My career consist of being a healthcare leader. I have had many roles as a leader for various healthcare facilities. I am also an entrepreneur. My husband and I have a Junk Removal company. I am also a notary and consult for Healthcare companies as an Medical device and Sterile Processing consultant. Then there is my legacy. I was determined to finish my Doctoral degree. According to Google only 2% of Americans have a Doctoral degree. I wanted to make sure that I was one of them. I also take pride in the boards that I am on Urban League and Sparklife International.
The Urban League supports minority in Health, education, and finances. Sparklife International provides support to women and children in Ghana for Hygiene support and preventing human trafficking.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
To develop in life, you need support. This support can be a mentor, spouse, children or whoever will be a cheerleader for you. There will be days that are rough in life. Sometimes you have to be reminded of the goal that you set in place or that you are strong. There are many essential skills to have to make it anywhere. My recommendation would be active listening, self awareness, and self discipline. Self discipline is the most important. If you want that job, check on your application. If you want to finish school you have to be bold enough to tell friends and family no to some events. You have to be able to visualize your outcome and work towards it.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking to partner with companies or individuals that need public speakers. I want to be able to empower People Especially the individuals that don’t know if they can make it. This includes but not limited to minorities, high school dropouts, new entrepreneurs, teen moms, and more.
