We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Stephanie Reid recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Stephanie, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I often trace my work ethic back to the sharp lessons of my childhood, born out of an upbringing where perfection wasn’t just encouraged—it was expected, often to an extreme. My mother, a single mom who became a parent at 15, carried the weight of her circumstances with a fierce determination. She was a perfectionist in every sense of the word, and whether it was fueled by her Virgo nature or the need to prove the world wrong, she instilled that same doggedness in me, sometimes in ways I didn’t fully appreciate at the time.
There’s one night that stands out vividly, even now. I was maybe eight years old, bundled under the covers, halfway through a dream. Suddenly, the blanket was ripped away, cold air jolting me awake. My mom stood over me, her voice cutting through the silence like a blade. “Get up!” she yelled, holding a single fork in her hand—the fork I had apparently failed to wash properly.
I remember feeling confused and small, staring at that tiny piece of silverware as if it had betrayed me. Sure, I had been thorough, scrubbing with dish soap like I always did. But maybe I missed a spot. Maybe a fleck of food clung stubbornly to its prongs. Whatever the case, I found myself at the sink, half-asleep, rewashing every single fork in the house while my mother stood nearby, arms crossed, her silence heavy with judgment.
It wasn’t the first time she had corrected me so forcefully, and it wouldn’t be the last. Her methods were often harsh, but there was no denying their impact. From that day forward, I was meticulous about everything I did. I checked and double-checked my work. I refused to cut corners. I learned to take pride in doing things right the first time—not because I feared punishment, but because I understood the value of excellence.
Looking back, I can see that my mother’s high standards weren’t just about clean forks or perfect grades. They were her way of preparing me for a world that wasn’t going to be kind or forgiving. Her way of proving, to herself and to everyone else, that we were capable of more than the labels society tried to slap on us.
Though I’ve since worked hard to temper that perfectionism with compassion—for myself and for others—I carry her lessons with me to this day. They’ve shaped my resilience, my ability to prioritize, and my unwillingness to settle for mediocrity. And while I wish the lessons had been delivered with more tenderness, I can’t deny that they built a foundation for the person I am now: someone who works hard, learns from mistakes and always strives to leave things better than they were.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I help women over 40 redefine wellness on their own terms—a mission that feels deeply personal and profoundly necessary. For two decades, I’ve worked as a Naturopath, guiding women through one of the most pivotal stages of life. This is an age where the weight of being a woman—juggling careers, raising children, managing strained relationships, caregiving for aging parents—starts to show. It takes a toll spiritually, mentally, and physically, often manifesting as chronic stress, declining health, and a creeping sense of loss for who they once were.
After COVID-19, I knew it was time to reimagine what wellness could look like for these women. Wellness isn’t just about fixing symptoms or taking a pill; it’s about helping women reclaim their lives and find balance in ways they didn’t even realize they needed. That’s why I’ve designed my services to do more than address the surface issues. Yes, I help with physical health through naturopathic assessments, detox programs, Hair Tissue Analysis, and Transdermal Optical Imaging to uncover hidden causes of disease. But beyond that, I help women dive deep into self-exploration—into their spirit, mind, and body—to unlock a sense of self-mastery.
I guide my clients to break free from the patterns and beliefs that hold them hostage. Together, we rewire the internal conversations fueled by past traumas and limiting beliefs, extract the wisdom from disappointments, and leave the pain behind. The ultimate goal? To help them live a life filled with joy, peace, and fulfillment, where they’re no longer just surviving but thriving.
This work is personal for me because I’ve been there. By the time I was 45, I was falling apart. I had spent decades overburdened by responsibilities that started when I was just seven years old—cleaning the house, cooking meals, taking care of my younger brother. On the surface, I was successful, but inside, I was burned out, grappling with unresolved childhood wounds, silent disappointments, and messy relationships. The grief of losing my daughter just hours after her birth added another layer to the pain. My body reflected the strain—diagnoses like lupus, Graves’ disease, and uterine problems piled on. There was no place to hide.
But I refused to let my story end there. Instead, I found a path that aligned with my true self, a path that allowed me to heal from the inside out. I discovered that true wellness is about so much more than physical health—it’s about reclaiming your identity and creating a life that reflects your deepest desires and values.
Now, I share this path with others. Through my *From Panic to Empowerment* book series, coaching programs, online courses, and naturopathic assessments, I give women the tools they need to rebuild their lives. This year, I’m hosting my first all-inclusive international retreat in the Dominican Republic for Women’s Month—a space where women can reset, recharge, and reclaim themselves.
I do this work because I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom, and I also know what it takes to rise again. Women over 40 don’t need another prescription or band-aid solution. They need a holistic approach that honors every part of who they are—spirit, mind, and body. And I’m here to help them find it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back over the past 20 years, three qualities and skills have been most impactful on my journey of self-discovery and eventual self-mastery: courage, intuitive conviction, and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a way that inspires others to take action. Together, these qualities have shaped my path and allowed me to carve out a space as a trailblazer in the field of Naturopathy.
First and foremost, **courage** has been a cornerstone of my journey. When I embarked on this path, Naturopathy wasn’t widely accepted. I was labeled a “quack” simply because I dared to challenge the narrative that mainstream medicine was the only way to achieve wellness. It wasn’t easy to stand firm in the face of criticism, but courage gave me the strength to trust my vision and intuition. For those just starting, I’d advise embracing discomfort and allowing it to teach you resilience. Courage doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid—it means you keep moving forward, even when fear is present.
Second, my **intuitive conviction** has been my compass. Early on, I realized my intuition wasn’t just a “new age” concept; it was a powerful, guiding force I could trust to navigate decisions and take bold actions. When I was handed life-altering diagnoses or faced systemic norms that didn’t serve me, I leaned into that inner voice. It guided me to challenge the system and redefine wellness for myself and others. To those beginning their journeys, I recommend strengthening your intuition by learning to listen to yourself. Quiet the noise of external expectations and focus on what feels right in your gut. It’s a skill that grows with practice and is invaluable when you’re called to make difficult decisions.
Finally, the **ability to communicate complex concepts in a way that fosters empowerment** has been instrumental in my success. My work involves unpacking intricate ideas about the human body, preventive care, and holistic health. But it’s not enough to understand these concepts myself—I need to help others feel their importance and see their practical application. This skill has allowed me to connect with clients on a deep level, encouraging them to take charge of their own wellness journeys. My advice to others is this: develop your communication skills alongside your expertise. Learn to translate your knowledge into actionable insights that empower others. When people feel capable of making informed choices, they’re more likely to trust you and themselves.
At the core of it all is a commitment to growth—both for myself and for those I serve. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that courage, intuition, and communication are muscles we can all strengthen. And when we do, we’re not just equipped to overcome challenges; we’re ready to inspire others to do the same.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I am absolutely looking for people to collaborate with—particularly women who feel the call to live differently but aren’t sure how to start. Holistic wellness and personal transformation aren’t isolated ideas; they are part of a collective movement. I believe we are all born with unique gifts and talents meant to contribute to the well-being of the world, but too often, these gifts remain untapped due to fear, uncertainty, or lack of guidance.
I’m looking to collaborate with women aged 40 and above who feel a burning desire to rise but have been held back by three common obstacles: **triggers from past traumas, limiting beliefs, and a silent sense of disappointment**. These women may feel a growing itch to step into their next chapter—whether it’s to rediscover themselves, reclaim their voice, or move from simply existing to truly thriving. They know they have more to offer, but they’re searching for the door, the light, and the path to begin.
What I offer isn’t therapy or a list of behaviors to memorize. Instead, it’s a partnership rooted in **support, accountability, and empowerment**—a journey of self-discovery leading to self-mastery. I help women heal from what holds them back, transform their mindset, and step boldly into their purpose. If this resonates with you, or if you’ve been waiting for a sign to finally prioritize yourself, then I believe we are meant to connect.
