We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Stevii Aisha Mills a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Stevii Aisha , so happy to have you on and really appreciate your openness to discussing a topic so many shy away from. Let’s jump right in – can you talk to us about overcoming bankruptcy?
Wow! This question carries profound significance. Despite grappling with the challenges of bankruptcy, it resonates with me deeply. Bankruptcy, often a hushed topic, is a hurdle many hesitate to acknowledge.
Addressing this question is crucial to me because I know that we overcome by the testimonies of others. I never envisioned experiencing bankruptcy, but when my father passed away in 2022, I faced a pivotal decision. Opting for proper grieving, I had to temporarily step back from growing my business—a substantial setback, especially considering I had achieved six-figure success as an entrepreneur amidst the pandemic.
The steps I took to overcome bankruptcy were threefold:
1. Embrace prayer.
2. Extend forgiveness to myself.
3. Dive into the hard work required for recovery.
As an Author, Speaker, and Coach, I had been cultivating my online business since 2009. Through and post-bankruptcy, I applied the strategies honed over the years. Developing products and services, I aimed to boost my income, gradually rebuilding both my bank account and my life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In reflecting on my journey, I believe the three qualities that have been most impactful are respect, grace, and warmth. These values shape every interaction I have, whether it’s in my devotion to God, my commitment to business, or my interactions with people. The fusion of expertise, empathy, and an unwavering work ethic has truly set me apart.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to focus on developing these qualities. Cultivate respect for yourself and others, approach challenges with grace, and bring warmth to your connections. These qualities not only define your unique presence but also contribute to your success.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most significant contribution my parents made in shaping who I am today was granting me the freedom to let my gifts, skills, talents, and abilities flow and flourish. This played a crucial role not only in molding my identity but also in providing the foundation for creating my book, “Cultivating Your It Factor.” Their forward-thinking approach, even in unconventional choices like naming their daughter Stevii, has left a lasting impact on me. I owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude, and though my Daddy is now my angel in Heaven, I am committed to always honoring Fred Mills and Karen Mills by embracing my It Factor to the absolute fullest.
