Meet Dr. Tamala Coleman

We recently connected with Dr. Tamala Coleman and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Tamala, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Wow, it was hard to build my confidence and self-esteem. Growing up wasn’t easy especially within my peers. I was bullied a lot and lost my confidence even in my early 20’s. My journey included positive self-talk, setting achievable goals, and focusing on my strengths. It also included practicing self-compassion . I had to learn to love myself and find my worth. It was challenging, but I had to put away those negative thoughts. I have always had a supportive family and circle of true friends which is always important.

Throughout my journey I had to seek support from positive influences. Taking care of my physical and mental well-being this is crucial for overall confidence for anyone. I don’t worry about nay-sayers I do what God has called me to do and with Him I can do All things with the Lord on my side .

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hello I am Dr. Evangelist Tamala J Coleman. I am a child of God first of all and I love God’s people. God has afforded me to Minister the Gospel and to achieve many accomplishments over the years. I am an Author of over 15 Books to date with the opportunity to become an International Best Seller Author. In 2007, I published my first poetry book and thereafter, I have been non-stop in writing many books of encouragement and empowerment. I love to write, so in this industry over the years I also became a Stage Play writer and producer.

In 2012, I produced my first stage play “Lord Change My Heart” this stage play also became my first Written Film. This was one of my best achievements ever!!! In 2015 , my next stage play was produced and was a sold out show “He Who Finds a Wife Finds a Good Thing”.
I must say God has been good over the years and now He still shows up in my life . During the pandemic God gave me a vision for starting my own Magazine “NSpire Christian Magazine” . I am currently on my 35th Magazine Issue. This was a great milestone in my life and I use this platform to open discussions and testimonials for Authors, Ministers, Entrepreneur’s and anyone with a testimony. I have a podcast that I started a few years ago “The Outpouring Show” for inspiration for others. Prior to this podcast I ventured in many other podcast shows. I encourage others to follow your dreams and believe in yourself and Walk by Faith.

I remember my grandmother quoting Matthew 7:7 “Ask ,Seek and Knock”. Ask” involves presenting needs, “seek” is about actively looking for God and His will, and “knock” represents persistent, continuous prayer and not giving up in seeking Him. The meaning emphasizes that God is a loving Father who desires to give good gifts to His children who continually approach Him with faith. It calls for trust in God’s ability and willingness to hear and answer prayers, emphasizing that the door to receiving spiritual blessings will be opened for those who persistently seek Him.

If you want to start that Business be consistent in prayer and focus on the goal that you envision for yourself and that Business. If you want to write that first book I encourage you to consistent in writing daily to achieve that goal and do it without fear or doubt.

To achieve goals without fear, break them into smaller steps, and create a clear plan. Then, take consistent action by embracing challenges and setbacks as learning opportunities, visualizing success, and practicing positive self-talk. Yes ,you may need to do some self-talk and encourage yourself. Be patient and watch things move in the direction you pray about.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I must say this journey has not been easy . I have learned to believe in myself and know that I can achieve many things in life. There are three qualities that helped along the way. First you must focus on the goal ahead, be consistent and don’t give up. There were times when I was not focused and felt as though it was a waste for time to pursue my dreams.

I have learned that no one owes you anything. You must believe in yourself no matter what others say. I must say there were some delays and some days when I wanted to throw in the towel but I remained focus on the goal and the vision. I remember my paternal grandmother would always quote a scripture from Matthew 7:7 “Ask, See and Knock”. I always refer back to this scripture when I was discouraged.”Ask” involves presenting needs, “seek” is about actively looking for God and His will, and “knock” represents persistent, continuous prayer and not giving up in seeking Him. The meaning emphasizes that God is a loving Father who desires to give good gifts to His children who continually approach Him with faith.

Believe and Trust God and as long as you have a relationship with Lord all things will work together for you. Stay consistent and make power moves everyday and watch how it will become easier and easier. Dev

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for was to let me know that I was authentic and I must trust God in whatever I do in life. Think outside the box was one of those things. Also my parents taught me not to be a Follower with peers but stand set apart as a leader. Be respectful and walk in Faith.
