Meet Dr. Tina J Ramsay

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Tina J Ramsay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Tina J below.

Dr. Tina J, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

As the founder of CTR Homeschooling, I’ve often found myself as the only one in the room who looks like me. This experience has taught me several valuable lessons that contribute to my effectiveness and success:

1. Embrace Your Unique Perspective: Being different can be a powerful asset. I’ve learned to view my unique background and experiences as strengths that provide insights others may not have. This perspective allows me to contribute meaningfully to discussions and decision-making processes.

2. Build a Strong Support Network: I have actively sought out mentors and allies who share similar experiences. This network has been crucial in providing guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. I’ve also worked to create inclusive environments where others can feel supported.

3. Stay Authentic and Confident: Authenticity has been key to my success. I’ve learned to be confident in who I am and to express my ideas openly. This confidence helps to break down barriers and fosters a culture of acceptance and respect.

4. Continuous Learning : I make it a priority to educate myself about the environments I navigate. Understanding the nuances of different cultures and perspectives equips me to communicate effectively and to advocate for the needs of those I represent.

5. Lead by Example: I strive to be a role model for others, showing that success is possible despite challenges. By sharing my journey and the lessons I’ve learned, I hope to inspire others who may find themselves in similar situations.

Ultimately, being the only one in the room has strengthened my resolve and commitment to create inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and heard.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

At CTR Homeschooling, we specialize in alleviating the stress of homeschooling for parents through targeted support in three key areas: Curriculum, Technology, and Resource Access.

Curriculum Support: We understand the challenges of selecting the right curriculum. Our curated selection of community-endorsed options, along with insightful peek inside videos and reviews, empowers parents to make informed, cost-effective choices for their homeschooling journey.

Technology Guidance: In today’s digital learning landscape, technology can be daunting. We offer a variety of resources, including classes, eBooks, blogs, and tech videos, to help parents navigate online learning confidently. Additionally, we connect families with recommended programs and schools.

Resource Access: We believe accessibility to resources and community is vital for homeschooling success. Our platform ensures parents stay connected and informed about events, discounts, and more, equipping them to thrive in the dynamic world of homeschooling.

I am passionate about supporting families on their homeschooling journey and fostering a community that empowers parents to succeed. Currently, we are expanding our offerings with new events, 24/7 OnlineTV Educational Channel, online courses, and our educational curriculum directory resources designed to enhance the homeschooling experience. I invite readers to join our community, where we strive to make homeschooling fulfilling and enjoyable for everyone

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey with CTR Homeschooling, I believe three qualities have been particularly impactful: Resilience, Adaptability, and Community Building.

1. Resilience: The homeschooling landscape can be challenging, and resilience has been crucial in overcoming obstacles and setbacks. It’s essential to maintain a positive mindset and remain committed to your goals, even when faced with difficulties. My advice for those early in their journey is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Develop a strong support system that encourages you to push through tough times.

2. Adaptability: The ability to pivot and adjust to new information or changing circumstances is vital. Homeschooling often requires us to rethink our approaches and strategies. I recommend embracing a growth mindset—stay open to learning and be willing to experiment with different methods and resources. This flexibility will not only enhance your homeschooling experience but also set a positive example for your children.

3. Community Building: Creating a strong network of support has been instrumental in my journey. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals fosters collaboration, encouragement, and the sharing of valuable resources. I advise those starting out to actively seek out and engage with their local homeschooling community or online groups. Participate in discussions, share experiences, and learn from others to cultivate a sense of belonging and support.

For anyone on this journey, remember that growth takes time, and every step you take is an opportunity to learn and develop. Stay committed to your vision, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support and guidance along the way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

At CTR Homeschooling, we are actively seeking partnerships with nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses that focus on educational development, especially in the areas of homeschooling, special needs, and technology. We believe that collaboration is key to enriching the homeschooling experience for families and expanding the resources available to them to our community of 24,000 Homeschooling Parents and their families.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Nonprofit Organizations: We welcome partnerships with nonprofits that support educational initiatives, particularly those focused on homeschooling or special needs education. Your expertise and resources can significantly enhance the services we offer to families.

2. For-Profit Educational Businesses: We’re interested in collaborating with businesses that provide innovative curriculum, technology tools, or educational resources designed for homeschooling families. Together, we can create impactful solutions that empower parents and students alike.

3. Content Creators: We are looking for passionate content creators—educators, speakers, and influencers—who can contribute valuable content to our Online TV channels. Whether you specialize in curriculum design, technology integration, or parenting tips, we want to showcase your expertise and help our community thrive.

How to Connect: If you are interested in collaborating with CTR Homeschooling, I encourage you to reach out directly. You can connect with us via our website or through our social media channels. Let’s explore how we can work together to make a meaningful impact in the homeschooling community and provide the support families need to succeed.

Together, we can create a brighter future for homeschooling families and enrich the educational landscape for all learners.
