We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Tish Summers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Tish , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I oftentimes am asked where do I find the time, strength or insight to have such a stellar work ethic. I would honestly say that my work ethic comes from my parents, Mr Theophilus & Mrs Bedelhia Ferguson. I would also give credit to both of my grandmothers, Dorothy V.Hauser, and Juanita C Bacon who instilled the importance of hard work, diligence, consistency and persistence in any endeavor that you are passionate about. Time management and maintaining focus in spite of the day to day obstacles that you may incur is imperative to excel and succeed in attaining your goals.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As the ultimate serial entrepreneur, I am the proud owner of Shear Diva Designz Luxury Loc Gallery& Hair Loss Replacement Ctr, Creator/ CEO Diva Enterprises LLC, CEO The MoGrow Hair Fertilizing System, CEO / Owner of The Latisha Monique Collection Faux Loc Hair , Owner/ CEO Diva’s Delights Cordials and Catering, Cosmetologist (AAS), Board certified Trichologist, and Master of Herbal Medicine, Nonsurgical Hair Loss Replacement Specialist, Cranial Prosthesis Specialist, educator, motivational speaker , celebrity master stylist, master loctician, and a proud member of our local chapter of the NAACP. My work has been featured over 50 times in hair and fashion magazines nationwide as well as on billboards in NC, Tennessee, NYC, Miami,Tampa Fla, Atlanta and Las Vegas. My journey in the beauty industry has been a very rewarding, humbling and exciting experience that is just getting started. I look forward to cultivating my craft further in the near future and taking the hair loss industry by storm.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three of the most impactful skills/ qualities that I possess would most definitely be my humble , helpful, and positive spirit. It is always important to be a motivator to those around me who are embarking on paths similar to my own. My marketing skills are most definitely one of my strong attributes that has catapulted my brands to great heights. I do feel that a lot of entrepreneurs down play the importance of marketing strategies when you are cultivating your brand. I am no stranger to education. I have invested greatly in to my education, professionally earning numerous degrees, certifications, specialties and accolades that have set me a part from the rest.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
In order to be a successful entrepreneur and possess longevity in any endeavor you embark upon, it is important to maintain balance. Proper rest, diet, and self care regiments are essential to avoid burn out. Life is not a race, it’s a marathon and there must be balance as well as an adequate amount of down time.
