We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Drasko V a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Drasko, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’ve learned that authentic confidence can only be built through experience. Every personal, creative, and business challenge in my life has been an opportunity for growth and self-development. These experiences have enabled me to more authentically represent myself and my ideas. More experience results in less fear of communicating ideas or engaging further in one’s own concepts and initiatives.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have a wide spectrum of creative interests and tools that I use to create personal and client work. My work can take form as an immersive interactive website, or as a live generative art projection on a city building. I have also created music and sound design for many Hollywood film campaigns, apps, devices and public spaces. Some recent examples include a live generative art projection on the Santa Monica clock tower building , allowing people on 3rd street promenade to interact with the art in real-time via mobile devices. This allowed for human interaction to contribute to the on-going living art piece representing the live organism of the city. Another was an audio-touch reactive installation at Beyond Basel Miami , a collab with Function Store. I am also currently working on some web3 blockchain related projects and helping brands and companies integrate. I am the co-founder of Kaidan www.kaidanuniverse.com – a samurai edo-era cosmic horror IP with a game in development. I am growing my personal and Drastic Studios brand to represents pioneering, meaningful engagement, and the pursuit of redefining the art experience with every project. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Some of these may be cliche, but are essential for growth and progress. I no particular order, the top ones would be 1: a strong capability for self-awareness, 2: authenticity 3: discipline. With self-awareness, we are able to have more control over how much we get absorbed in our thoughts and emotions, how we respond, and can recognize when to not react. Authenticity is a powerful state of being where confidence feels natural and easier to communicate. Becoming authentic allows us to be more fearless with our creativity and concepts, to plan courageously and execute fearlessly. With discipline, we can ensure to stay on track and to apply tools and techniques when necessary. My advice for all of the above is to be to immerse yourself fully when engaging with others or even our own thoughts. It takes time to discover who we are and how our brains work. With experience and this inner life analysis, over time we can develop our own personalized systems and tools to create and live better.
