Meet Dre Lov

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dre Lov a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dre, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

Anybody that usually has a negative connotation about me doesn’t know what I’m about or never truly met me. But the best way I persist is by keep working because my hard work will always show.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a stand-up comedian from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The most exciting thing about what I do as a stand-up comedian is that I am able to create and shape and mold the Milwaukee comedy scene. I have a following on Instagram and TikTok for my character known as Mr. Onna G. The people can always just follow my page to keep up with any new content or events that I do have coming up.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The first quality would have to be how you speak on stage is a big deal to me because you can always have a message, but how do you get it out really matters.

Second quality, always being ready to perform because whenever you go on stage, no matter what’s going on in your life, you still have a job to do.

Last quality you have to be intentional with what you do and how you become the best version of yourself.

My advice for anyone is always try to be true to who you are show the great qualities that people love about you.

Go to open mics as may times as you can and master your 10,000 hours

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The one obstacle that I’m probably tied up with is how to make my brand a lot more marketable and what I do to try to overcome that is staying consistent in my work whether it be doing stand-up, comedy, creating videos, and writing just all sorts of things to help me get that much closer to being a a household name.
