Meet Drew Henry

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Drew Henry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Drew below.

Hi Drew, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
As the Owner and Strategist for Eat It Up Marketing, I have the daily task to lead and create eye-catching and “mouthwatering” content marketing campaigns for our clients in San Antonio, the Texas region, and across the country. Jumping back and forth between different clients and creating campaigns across multiple mediums can be fun but also challenging. When you’re using that creative part of your mind all day, you’ll inevitably get tired and run into a creative block. The best way I combat this is to step away from the distractions and get back to why we create in the first place. If I’m working on a restaurant campaign, I’ll step away from the project to go experience a meal, which offers way more inspiration than the office setting! If I’m stuck on a blog post, I’ll change my writing location or step away from screens completely for a walk. Sometimes the best ideas come to you when you’re experiencing rather than forcing a brainstorm.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner of Eat It Up Marketing — a “done-for-you, done-from-anywhere” content marketing agency specializing in social media management, blog & content writing, email campaigns, web design, reputation management, and full-service content marketing. We’re based in San Antonio, and our remote and dynamic team serves clients across the country. We love working with other passionate creatives and often work with restaurant owners, designers, retailers, e-commerce brands, and other service providers.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the most important skill in building a marketing agency is the ability to take risks and quickly adapt. The world of marketing is constantly changing, and no two days are the same when you’re an entrepreneur. It’s important to have confidence in yourself and your team, knowing that you’ll find a way to come together to create the most impactful outcome.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Back when I first started my freelance marketing career, my goal was to “tell the stories of passionate people.” I run my agency with the same mission. We work with a broad range of clients across many different industries, but they are all passionate about what they do. It makes the job all the more rewarding to help them showcase their brand and tell their unique story.
