Meet Drew Young

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Drew Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Drew, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?

I developed an ability to take risks by being told no or being unsuccessful at something that I was really invested into. It just made me go harder at whatever it was I was doing or Into. I never looked for hand outs. I just always felt the urge to get up and get it myself. Even if it meant to lose something or give up something.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Dru & I am a barber that gives back free haircuts to the homeless/less fortunate in my community. Giving back is free and I don’t look for anything in return. Thats the most exciting thing about what I do. Everything I do is from the heart and I want the world to know it. I’ve always heard all my life that I have a positive force of energy and that I have a big heart and I just want to share it with the people in my community. Hoping that it spreads through out my city and into each other lives.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would say being a people’s person. I love being around people and being around people gets me excited because it’s like who can I meet next and how can I be a blessing to them. So definitely being able to talk to people and express myself to them is a big part of doing what I do.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Becoming a better version of myself. If I can become a better version of myself then I can be a better person to everyone else and to everything else i touch.
