Meet Drew Zaremba

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Drew Zaremba. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Drew, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
From my music, my family, and my faith! Joy has to come from deep within. It needs to be unshakeable, immovable, and not found in just yourself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m releasing my album Nov 10th! Nice press release here – lots of good stuff to borrow/use.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Love – love yourself, your neighbor, your coworker, your family, those who might be considered “not your friends”. We must love through and with all. 2. Curiosity/Humility – without curiosity, what is worth doing? We must always be students, willing to learn, willing to be corrected. These go hand in hand.
3. Persistence – in order to have some degree of success, persistence is needed. Persistence in the face of difficult circumstances.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Collaboration is at the heart of what I do. In particular, cross-cultural collaborations. I had the privilege to live in China for a few months and learn all about Chinese Opera and do a massive project combining this and Jazz.

A few months ago, I premiered and finished a years-long project called “Rhapsody in Raag Jog” a fusion of Hindustani, western Classical, and jazz music in a 20-minute concerto for Tenor saxophone, tabla, guitar, bass, and strings.

I’m always looking for new collaborators, as this is how my creative process is best fueled!
