We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Drip Kultur a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Drip , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
Learning and understanding my mistakes. Calculating my moves so that it aligns with my goals. My self discipline also comes from my upbringing as a child. I learned to understand that all things doesn’t work when you want them to work, so that developed patience. Knowing that there is a time and season for everything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I grew up in a single parent home(my mother). Growing up in Michigan City, Indiana wasn’t easy. Dealing with poverty at an early age taught me that ambition and dedication is very vital to one’s life. I’ve always been multitalented since a kid( drawing, dancing, basketball, rapping etc.) as an adult I started a clothing line( Drip Kultur Clothing) which gained notoriety when rapper’s Young Thug and Lil Keed were the first to support my brand. After much success in the fashion industry, I transitioned over to jewelry making(custom pendants, rings, bracelets etc.). It’s a challenging but rewarding experience. That wasn’t enough for me, so I got into acting and modeling which landed me a starring role in thriller film EVERYTHING IS BOTH written by JaQuavius Coleman(available on AmazonPrime, Appletv, Xfinity and Tubi). I plan to further my career in acting and modeling and making that my primary focus.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning, Discipline and the ability to speak to or talk in front of whoever are three factors I go by on this journey. Always be open to learning new things and skills. This can possibly open up doors that you never knew were there. Discipline because you have to understand the steps it takes to elevate. Most steps aren’t programmed to be easy, so having discipline will strengthen you for your most challenging task. Never be afraid to speak in front of large crowds or people that are in higher positions than you. You never know who’s listening and willing to help you with your career. Always remember that blessings are often hidden in plain sight.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Author JaQuavius Coleman has been very influential in my life because he was just like me, a kid with a vision. He motivates me in every way and pushes me to do and be better at everything I do.
