Meet Dromos Productions

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dromos Productions. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dromos below.

Dromos, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Keeping creativity alive is not always as easy as it feels like it should be. Having creative ideas is one thing, it’s bringing those ideas to life that can be challenging. Though there are always creative ideas and thoughts running through our mind, it does not always translate to being easily translated to film. Sometimes the sheer amount of ideas and inspiration can be overwhelming, causing creative thinking to feel clouded. That’s why we always make sure we keep communicating at all times. We try to put everything out on the table. We want everyone to be heard. Not just when we are working on a project or on set. Doing so has created a trust in one another that allows us to communicate about even the craziest concepts. The confidence that even bad ideas lead to good ideas, sometimes it just needs a different mind or a different point of view. Having everyone on board and free to explore the ideas they have has allowed us to have that constant flow of creativity. Knowing we can lean on one another to help build and shape these ideas. Of course there are creative disagreements and of course we don’t use every idea. That’s just part of having that trust in one another. Being open to new and different ideas and knowing that in film nothing is set in stone until the end. It’s a group concept built on collaboration and a relationship of trust.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Dromos is a new production company based out of Pittsburgh PA. We are focused on helping bring visions to life through the lens of filmmaking. Whether it be an original idea, or a script that someone has had for years that they want to bring to the screen, we want to work with you. Dromos was not only founded to help us grow and learn in a creative environment, but to meet other like minded people with similar passions and help them grow and learn as well. We have a passion for creation and we just want to keep creating!

We have a couple different projects on the way. We have two original films releasing this year, a comedy short “Rebound Bass,” coming very soon, as well as a more serious film “For You.” currently in post production.

We are also working with Daniel Thomas Ebeling on producing his directorial and writing debut “Sleepless.” A horror short releasing late October- early November.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most valuable qualities we’ve taken from filmmaking, Trust. Do, Repeat. In order to be successful with a team filled with incredibly passionate creative minded people is to trust one another. One of the best pieces of advice we’ve gotten was to “Not be afraid to kill your baby.” In other words even if you feel really good about something you wrote or an idea you have, sometimes things change. Sometimes it doesn’t work for a certain department, sometimes it doesn’t work for the story. In order to move forward you need to trust one another. Trust that everyone is doing their job to make the project the best it can be.
Do. As easy as it sounds. Do it. Make a film. Write the script, Take the leap, The only way to get better is by making films. It’s not about the gear you have., it’s about the story you’re telling, Story telling is a muscle, you need to exercise to strengthen it. Don’t talk about doing it. Do it.
Repeat. Repetition is incredibly important. If you have stories to tell. If you have something you’re passionate about. You need to get it out there, and once it’s out there, do it again. Fail. Learn. Trust. Repeat. The best way to get better is to fail and learn why you failed, The more you do whatever it is you’re passionate about, the more learning opportunities you create for yourself, The more people you’ll meet. The more knowledge you’ll have.
Find that thing that drives you. Trust. Do. Repeat.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Collaboration is not only our goal in Dromos, its what we do. Collaboration is what production companies thrive off of. Helping story tellers tell their story. Helping creators, create. We love making original films, but we love working with others more. Actors, writers, those passionate about film, reach out! We would love to meet you! We would love to work with follow creative minded people!
