Meet Droovyy

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Droovyy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have DROOVYY with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Commenting on DROOVYY’s work ethic would sound quite corny, but she would want people to know what shaped her professional life and routine.

DROOVYY has a pretty organized work-life balance to start with. She prioritizes her work, physical and mental health and quality time with her loved ones above anything. Most importantly sitting in silence for an hour everyday helps her clear my mind and release all those lingering and hanging thoughts that sometimes could manifest in bad ways. She believes in cleansing and releasing her energy everyday. Sounds quite spiritual; but that’s what she is about. Well, a part of her.

DROOVYY, as an artist is someone who schedules her writing sessions and recording session separately and believes in being on time during these sessions. She does not like having a time limit on the writing sessions as she believes creativity or inspiration comes from those ideal, boring moments. Most times she catches herself mumbling a line from a famous 80s record in the past and uses it as a lyric in one of her songs. She quotes : “Writing should be free flowing. Give it space. Don’t think about the rhyme scheme or the format or the style or the genre. I let the words come to me. Don’t force it. Freestyle often and note it down! Be it a mumbling melody or a few words stuck in your mouth. And they don’t gotta make sense for real.”

Whereas, in a recording session, she is completely opposite and uptight like the ‘captain of a ship’. She likes to be on time especially if working with other producers, engineers, session musicians or artists! It is important to be on time and respect and value everyone else’s times. Secondly, she would rather be before warm up and open up my throat before recording in the studio itself, to avoid delays. There would be days when she gets it right in the first go and then there will be days where she won’t be as poised and as serene as she is expected to be . And that’s completely okay! She does not believe in pushing herself too hard especially while singing because the vocal chords are like “fragile instruments “we need to take care of! If she gets into the studio for a recording session one day and her vocal performance isn’t the best she tries again the next day. There is not point of recording music without feeling the emotion that you are trying to convey.

Her mixing and mastering sessions are usually done in person with the producers/ engineers. She prefers to be in the room during this major step as instant inputs can help the dynamics, the vocals, the levels and the production of the song. Mixing is crucial to her as she wants all her song’s mixes to sound coherent to each other.

A secret: She learnt to work this way and getting my things done from my father’s hardworking attitude.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Well what DROOVYY does primarily is work as a creative and an independent artist. Singing, Writing, Producing and DJ’ing is her professional occupation and also her major area of expertise. She envisions on building her brand as an artist in a such a way that her songs are eternal. She quoted “I want my music to live longer than I do, that’s the kind of creative force I wish to be”. Her vision is simplified in this quote putting emphasis to her true intentions towards her craft and what she desires to deliver to her fans.

DROOVYY believes that her brand as an artist shall unfold the bitter truths of this material-driven world. Her purpose is to be as vulnerable and open about the demented thoughts she has in her mind about herself or others. She is not afraid to admit it out loud and face the reality of being a human being. Life for her is finding out herself, her soul and her true purpose in this realm.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities and skills that impacted DROOVYY’s career and brand expansively, would be her determination or taking action upon her desires, her sense of openness to learn, explore and see things in a different light and her unwavering talent of music which she herself wasn’t aware of.

DROOVYY started her journey as an Artist, Singer and Producer in 2023. She was professionally only known as a renowned DJ in India before that from 2018-2023. Her Journey as a Singer/Artist began when she ended up being in Los Angeles with absolutely no plan or vision. All she knew and wanted to do was find her true purpose and reach her highest potential. She just took the opportunities that came her way instead of doubting, questioning or blocking her blessings. Before 2023 DROOVYY had no experience in Singing or writing music in any shape or form. All she knew was to spin the decks right and make people dance with her splendid mixing skills which she acquired over the years as a touring DJ.

As advised and suggested by her friends, she was peer-pressured into singing and writing music in her music school. Obviously she wasn’t the best when she started as she had never done that before. Never taken a vocal lesson or written anything. She just knew poems, she had a habit of journaling which eased her writing process. Eventually she got better at it and started enjoying the thrill of writing a song.

DROOVYY, being a perfectionist was scared of the recording process but she did it anyway. After this her journey as an artist began when she released her first RnB song on all streaming platforms which was written and executed in a bold yet sophisticated manner drawing the design of her artist brand. Since March 2024, DROOVYY has consistently managed to put out 1 song per month and putting in that work!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Being Brown parents, DROOVYY is grateful to her Mother and Father for keeping an open mind towards choosing a career that they knew nothing about. None of he family was even close to being in the entertainment industry. She feels so lucky, grateful and happy to be living her dream out here in the U.S. and she has nobody else to thank and give it back to, other than her beloved parents.

They have been nothing but supportive and pushing her to her limits since DAY 1, be it her career and journey starting from dancing, sports or music. She says: “it wouldn’t be possible without the blessing and support of my parents. They invested their time, money and energy in me and that has proven to be fruitful for the family”.

Her family and herself has been through hardships in their lives and DROOVYY wants to change the legacy of her family by making a huge name for herself in the music industry.
