Meet Duke Jr. Shaun

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Duke Jr. Shaun. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Duke Jr., appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I don’t look at averages, I look at possibility. Meaning, I care less if 99% percent of people have failed at whatever I am attempting to do and find myself more interested in the 1% that made it. I truly believe that we are only limited by our mindset. And if there is someone or multiple people who have done it, then I know that the only real challenge is keeping faith and staying out of my own way mentally. If you are honest with yourself and consistently do your best to improve, you will gradually move closer to your goal. I am also a big practicer of visualization. Thinking supportive thoughts is one thing, but when you start to actually feel the feeling of triumph and embrace the identity associated with it, that’s when you’ll surprise yourself by the obstacles you’re able to transcend, often with more ease than you anticipate.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a film maker, an artist and an entrepreneur. I have written, produced and starred in many independent films since 2018. I have also founded over 5 business and and the current CEO/Founder of Group Solutions. Group Solutions is an agency that hires skilled practitioners (therapists, holistic healers, etc) to facilitate process groups in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Living as both a full time artist AND entrepreneur certainly has its challenges but I love it because it forces me to constantly grow in so many ways. I need to stay connected and constantly inspired for my art. I need to allow myself freedom to explore. But i also need to be accountable since people rely on my for their income. It forces me to keep both sides of my brain sharp.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe my three most important “skills” are spiritually-based. Faith, gratitude and remaining teachable. I know these are odd “skills” to list, but the truth is that these are things i need to consciously practice in order to experience the effects in my life. I notice a direct correlation between my success and quality of life when I am active in my practice verses the times when I am not and the difference is staggering.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I do the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya as taught by Sadghuru in his Inner Engineering course. It is a life-changing practice, I highly recommend it.
