We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Duresa Genemo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Duresa below.
Duresa, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
First and foremost, my work ethic is rooted in a love for storytelling. Whether through a single frame or a long sequence, I’m always thinking about how to capture a moment that resonates. That passion fuels long hours on set, chasing the right lighting, framing, or composition. It’s about capturing the essence of a subject, whether it’s a person, landscape, or scene.
The technical challenge of photography and cinematography also contributes to my work ethic. Mastery of cameras, lenses, lighting, and editing tools takes practice, and there’s always something new to learn. The constant evolution of technology in both fields means there’s always room to grow, and that’s motivating. The pursuit of perfection, or at least pushing my boundaries to get closer to it, drives my determination.
It’s a balance between creativity, technical proficiency, and professional discipline that shapes my approach to each project—always striving to improve, always willing to push the limits of what I can do with light, composition, and story.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the owner of Zion Media Production, which is a photography and videography business, I specialize in creating visuals that tell unique, emotional stories—from weddings and events to creative shoots. What excites me most about this work is the constant opportunity for creativity. Every project is different, and no two shoots are the same. I’m always challenged to see things from new perspectives and to experiment with lighting, composition, and storytelling techniques. Whether I’m capturing a couple’s first dance or a music video, there’s something special about preserving those moments in time and turning them into visual narratives that clients can cherish forever.
What sets my business apart is my commitment to a personalized experience. I take the time to really understand my clients’ vision, whether they’re looking for a bold, cinematic feel or a more intimate, documentary-style approach. It’s about collaborating closely to bring their story to life in a way that’s authentic and unique.
Above all, my brand is built on a foundation of trust, creativity, and a dedication to excellence. Whether it’s a small personal project or a major corporate campaign, I bring the same level of passion and attention to detail to every job.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey as a photography and videography business owner, three qualities have been most impactful to my success: creativity, technical expertise, and client communication. Creativity has been the driving force behind my ability to tell compelling visual stories, pushing me to experiment with new ideas and capture unique moments. For those starting out, I encourage you to seek inspiration from all sources and continuously push your creative boundaries to develop your own style.
Technical expertise is equally vital. Mastering your equipment, lighting, and editing software allows you to bring your creative vision to life with precision and quality. My advice is to invest time in learning the technical aspects of your craft through practice and education. The more comfortable you are with your tools, the more confidently you can execute your ideas.
Lastly, effective client communication is crucial. Building strong relationships and truly understanding your clients’ needs ensures that you not only meet but exceed their expectations. My advice here is to listen actively, manage expectations clearly, and be responsive throughout the process. By prioritizing these three areas—creativity, technical skill, and communication—you’ll create a solid foundation for both your artistic growth and business success.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I am always looking for talented editors to collaborate with! As a photography and videography business owner, I understand that post-production plays a critical role in bringing the final vision to life. I’m looking for skilled editors who are passionate about storytelling, have an eye for detail, and are proficient in video and/or photo editing software (like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom, and Photoshop…). Ideally, you should be someone who understands how to work with raw footage or images and transform them into something polished and engaging, whether it’s a cinematic video, a highlight reel, or a perfectly composed photo gallery.
If you’re someone who enjoys collaborating on creative projects, has a strong portfolio to showcase your editing work, and thrives in a fast-paced, client-driven environment, I’d love to connect!
