Meet Dusty Bo

We recently connected with Dusty Bo and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dusty, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

My mom and big brother.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am an independent rock artist based in Nashville, TN. My music is very eclectic and cross-genre ranging from Rocknroll to blues to hard rock to outlaw country and Americana. I released my debut album The Vulture & The Fox in 2022 and am preparing to release my next one in 2025. When I am not writing/recording I am touring all over the country and one day will be touring as much of the world as possible. My life goal is to sell out the YUM center by the year 2037.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Kindness, persistence and curiosity.

Figure out what you want/like to do, surround yourself with great people that you can trust, stay humble and regularly get out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to ask questions because you will not only learn more but you will show people that you care and intend to grow. Acting like you know things when you don’t actually know them is not good for anyone, especially yourself.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My mom has definitely had my back since day one. I also am very lucky to have such an amazing brother who has helped me navigate things for my entire career. They both have been prime examples of expressing kindness and great work ethic. I also am very fortunate to have made so many great friends and most of them have genuinely through being in the music community. Without a doubt, my favorite part of being a musician is all the awesome people I have been fortunate enough to become friends with.
