We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dyan Enriquez And Iris Rossell-Vitorica Dyan Enriquez And Iris Rossell-Vitorica a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dyan Enriquez and Iris Rossell-Vitorica, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care has been crucial for our effectiveness. When we first started the agency, we were basically living and breathing code – spending all day indoors, constantly learning and building. We loved it, but we quickly realized we were heading straight toward burnout.
Now we make it a point to step outside, take walks, spend time with family and friends, and work on other creative projects that aren’t web-related. These activities actually make us better at what we do. Some of our best solutions come to us when we’re away from the computer.
The impact on our work has been huge. We’re more creative, think more clearly, and bring fresh energy to every client project. We’ve learned that sustainable growth comes from balance. At the end of the day, taking care of ourselves means we can take better care of our clients. We show up focused and energized instead of running on empty, and that makes all the difference in the quality of work we deliver.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We’re Dyan and Iris, and we run Built by Lime – a boutique web agency that helps small businesses stand out online. We handle branding, web design, development, and social media management, but what really gets us excited is working with small business owners and creatives who have big dreams.
What makes us different is our approach to affordability without compromising quality. We believe every small business and creative deserves a website that looks professional and actually helps them grow, without breaking the bank. We’re not trying to be the biggest agency – we’d rather be the one that genuinely cares about our clients’ success.
The best part of our job is seeing our clients’ reactions when their new website goes live. There’s this moment when they realize they finally have something they’re proud to share, and suddenly they feel confident about their online presence. We’re also not the type of agency that disappears after launch. We stick around to help businesses grow and evolve over time, which has led to some amazing long-term partnerships.
Right now, we’re expanding our services and taking on more diverse projects, which keeps pushing our creative boundaries. When we’re not working, you’ll find us traveling, trying new foods, and geeking out over tech and music – all of which keeps us inspired and brings fresh ideas to our work.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First, our different backgrounds worked in our favor – Iris came from communications and I (Dyan) worked in operations for tech startups. When we both discovered coding through an online bootcamp, we naturally fell into our roles: Iris builds and I design. Having those different perspectives helps us approach projects more thoughtfully.
Second, we didn’t stop at the bootcamp. We invested in formal courses to really solidify our technical foundation. You need those skills to do the work well, but honestly, being technically solid is just the baseline.
The third thing is learning how to navigate client relationships. Finding clients and managing those relationships has been the hardest part of running the business. It’s one thing to build a great website, but it’s another to consistently bring in the right projects and work with clients effectively.
Our advice for people starting out: be honest about what you can deliver, but don’t undersell yourself. You’re the professional. Clients will often have ideas about what they want, but you need to confidently guide them toward what actually works for their business. It’s about listening while also knowing when to push back.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely! We love working with small businesses and creatives who are passionate about what they do. Our sweet spot is working with entrepreneurs like online coaches, fitness instructors, artists, consultants, and service-based businesses who need a strong online presence to grow their reach.
We’re drawn to people who have a clear vision for their business and understand that investing in good web design isn’t just about looking pretty – it’s about connecting with their audience and driving real results. Whether you’re launching something new or ready to elevate your existing brand, we want to work with folks who are excited about the process and see their website as an extension of their business goals.
We also collaborate with other creatives and agencies when projects call for skills outside our wheelhouse. If you’re a copywriter, photographer, or marketing strategist who works with similar clients, we’d love to chat about potential partnerships.
The best collaborations happen when there’s mutual respect and clear communication.
