Meet Dylan McKenzie Beck

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dylan McKenzie Beck. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dylan McKenzie below.

Hi Dylan McKenzie , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from many things, however, the leading factors I get my work ethic from are past sport coaches and the need to be successful in life. I look at every day as an opportunity, and I am constantly working on things that will make me stronger mentally and physically. My past sports coaches always taught me that I have to be the one to work hard every day and nobody is coming to save me/ put the work in for me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Though there are many things that interest me, playing video games/ streaming, making clothes, and becoming a lawyer are what I am most interested in. I have always been interested in playing video games and have always made video game content on YouTube of games, such as, Pokémon Go, Minecraft, Apex, and 2K. I have also created a clothing line called (海と一緒に ) One ‘with the sea’ Clothing & Accessories, with the Japanese meaning ‘with the sea’ originating from my first name (Dylan) meaning ‘son of the sea’. Since I studied fashion design and merchandising as a minor in college, I wanted to be able to connect that to a clothing line where I can express my love for fashion. I also studied Prelaw/ Criminal Justice at Georgia Southern University so that I could pursue my dreams of becoming a lawyer. Many times people fall victim to the criminal Justice System because they are not well educated on their rights and the system, and I think the best way I would be able to give back to my community is fighting for people who are not able to fight for themselves, and helping bring Justice to people who need it most. Upon my graduation from College, May 11th 2023, I plan to continue striving towards my goals of pursuing my hobbies/ careers in the future.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Listening, learning, being appreciative, and believing in yourself are the main things I feel someone must do to become successful in the future. I say this because if you can listen to others, learn different things from different people, believe in yourself/ your ability to make decisions, and put God first I feel you will be able to do anything you put your mind to. You have to be able to be moldable/ always looking on ways to improve.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I feel that God has been most helpful on my journey to success. I say this because I have found myself alone many times while working on myself/ my craft, at school, or grinding late at night/ early in the morning. Though I do not go to church, I was introduced to Jesus at an early age through a summer camp and was able to stay connected with him throughout my life from prayer. Through prayer I feel God is able to answer any question I may have, give me the strength and opportunity to live another day, and helps me keep striving for things I want to achieve. You cannot become successful only by yourself and I believe the most important person that will always be there is God.
