Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dylan Richmond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dylan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My parents had a challenging upbringing, facing financial struggles throughout their early years. They dedicated themselves to creating a better future, and I observed them as they established a business from scratch. Their determination inspired me to realize that the power to transform my life lies within me. It’s essential to put in the effort, surround myself with positive influences, and seek knowledge by asking questions. Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. They are the example of overcoming challenges and make no excuses.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I began my journey with Clean Eatz in 2016, starting out as a cashier before moving on to cook and eventually being promoted to store manager. This was my first experience in the food industry, and I went on to manage seven locations, ultimately owning two and assisting in the opening of several others. Through hands-on experience, I learned valuable lessons that I’ve shared with my team. My passion for health and fitness drives me, as I believe that food is a crucial factor we can control—acting as medicine for our bodies and influencing how we feel throughout the day. I’m dedicated to expanding my presence in the local community with both of my locations and am always out networking, with the goal of building a vibrant health-focused community. I want to help as many people as possible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. You have to believe in yourself!
2. Do not be afraid to ask for help. We aren’t made to do it all on our own.
3. Most importantly be humble. We as individuals do not know everything. Be open to change and learning something new.
Mindset is everything when you are on any journey. You get to control how you wake up each day and the mindset you want for the day. Build your confidence and work on the things you need to improve on. You have to be raw and honest with yourself. Take ownership of what you are doing! “What you are not changing, you are choosing”. Is what you’re choosing for you? Does it align with your goals. Most importantly live outside of your comfort zone, that is where growth happens. Reach out for help and ask all the questions. This goes with being humble. Be willing to listen first then speak.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin,
This is an amazing book and if your mind is open you will pick up a lot of information. The biggest take away is always take ownership of your actions. We tend to look at a reason to blame something else and not own up to it being “ourselves”. This will help with personal growth extremely. This will also help in your business with your team. The team will see you take responsibility; it will set the example for them.
Another book would be Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness.
I personal love this book! Winning doesn’t happen overnight. Some of us is so quick for a result or a win. Winning can be many different things. We make small wins every single day without thinking about it. Winning can be as simple as getting to work on time, waking up early for the gym, getting all your meals in the day, making the bed, or even getting the dishes done. It about mindset and how we look at it. That big win, that big goal will come with challenges. Winning is also doing the things you do not want to do, it’s about overcoming, doing what most people will not do. It’s not always about a physical trophy, sale, or accomplishment. Winning isn’t easy, most will give up. It’s about getting up when you are pushed down and just feel like there is no more gas in the tank. It’s about sticking it through during the most difficult times in your life. Comparison is the thief of Joy! Always do better than the day before. Compare yourself to yourself. Make discipline choices not emotional. Your mind is not always clear with emotion, and it can be the wrong emotion.
