Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ebony Agee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ebony, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resiliency comes from my momma. I watched her work tirelessly, often putting in long hours yet still making it to my sports games, even though she must have been exhausted. She was always present for both my brother and me, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to our well-being. Throughout my life, I saw her handle challenges with a remarkable sense of calmness. Even during difficult times, she rarely showed any signs of distress, maintaining a steady presence that taught me the strength in composure and perseverance.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the co-owner of F.E.M. Briefs, which stands for “Freely Embracing Myself.” Our company developed a unique line of boxer briefs designed to securely and comfortably hold any kind of sanitary napkin, offering a discreet solution. The idea originated from a conversation with my business partner about the need for more comfortable, supportive options during menstruation without the need to layer products. From that point, we set the process in motion and have been working tirelessly to bring this innovation to market. Even though it’s a new invention requiring dedication and persistence, it’s exciting to know we’re creating something truly needed and with potential for a wide impact.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’ve learned a lot about product development through this journey, especially the patience required to bring a concept to life—particularly when working with manufacturers unfamiliar with such a unique product. Patience and grace are essential when pursuing dreams. My military background instilled self-discipline and initiative, skills that have proven invaluable in business. While marketing and promoting the product are crucial, it’s just as important to ensure that all operational tasks are managed effectively behind the scenes, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality every step of the way.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Balancing personal and business life can be challenging, especially when personal issues demand immediate attention. While it’s essential to prioritize personal life when needed, business responsibilities like deadlines and bills continue regardless. Finding ways to manage both effectively is key, as it ensures that neither aspect of life is neglected, even during demanding times.
