Meet Ebony Belser

We recently connected with Ebony Belser and have shared our conversation below.

Ebony , so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self discipline came from making mistakes, failure, and being irresponsible. It took me going through several trails in order for me to eventually “check myself”, and change my ways. For instance, spending, which is a bad habit many of us have/deal with. I had to learn how to discipline myself regarding spending money in order to obtain more money and/or save money for more important things like investing in my business, my stability, etc.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I consider myself an entrepreneur. I am a mom, business owner, designer, content creator, and I have a 9-5. YES IT IS POSSIBLE! What’s most exciting about being an entrepreneur is always having something to do. Im always busy and full of ideas to try new things, I don’t limit myself. That’s how I feel about my brand. Multifaceted, not limited to just one particular area. I tend to get bored easy so I love learning and trying NEW things. Don’t box yourself in! The only limits we have are the ones we place on ourselves . ECBC, LLC is always working on something NEW, stay tuned!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three keys that have helped me along my journey is;

1. Self Discipline; Without discipline you tend to make bad decisions and/or continue to and just move misguided. You have to be willing to unlearn, learn, and compromise in the name of your purpose and what it is you’re trying to achieve, in order to achieve whatever that is.

2. Networking/collaboration; Working with like minded people and people with similar goals as yours is very helpful and can be very beneficial to the growth of your business. Team work makes the dream work! Even if the people you work with are only around for a season, any/all support is entirely connected to the growth of your business.

3. Financial literacy/Being open to learning; I tied financial literacy and being open to learning together because it’s unfortunate that financial literacy wasn’t a mandatory subject we had to take during school, but it is vital knowledge nonetheless. You will waste A lot of money on bad investments, by not doing your research or not being disciplined with your spending/saving, especially if you’re the one funding your business. Start a business account. Read books. Go to seminars. Do whatever it is you need to do to keep yourself informed and ahead of the curve. The journey doesn’t stop once you reach one goal, KEEP GOING! Keep learning! There is always room for growth for us all!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Being a business woman/man, it’s inevitable that you will be overwhelmed, and this can come from a number of things. My advice for those that get overwhelmed or even come to a point where you just lose motivation, take a step back. For however long you need to get back in alignment with your path. Sometimes all we need is just a little break. Constantly working without honoring your rest, or just time to yourself can be the catalyst to you being overwhelmed. Don’t overdo or over saturate yourself. Take a trip, get grounded. Take care of your mental health . Ways to do that is staying off socials/your phone, yoga/working out, eating healthy and overall making healthy choices. This all plays apart in staying balanced so you don’t get overwhelmed or when you do, you know how to cope and get back on track.
