Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ebony Evans. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ebony, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a deep-rooted faith in God and the desire to be a strong example for my daughter. Life has thrown its challenges, but each experience has strengthened my determination to make a positive impact in the world. What keeps me going, though, is the unwavering support of my family, friends, and sister circle… EyeCU Reading. Their love, encouragement, and belief in me help me stay grounded and push through even the toughest moments. I know I’m not in this alone, and that gives me the strength to keep moving forward
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Perseverance
One of the most impactful qualities in my writing journey has been perseverance. Writing isn’t easy. There are moments of doubt, rejection, and frustration, but sticking with it is key. For those just starting out, my advice is to give yourself permission to write badly at first. You can’t revise what doesn’t exist, and every draft teaches you something. Celebrate small wins, like finishing a chapter or experimenting with a new style, because progress is progress.
2. Curiosity
Curiosity has been my guide. Ask lots of questions, research, and be open to exploring new ideas. For anyone looking to grow in this area, I suggest you start by reading different genres, voices, and perspectives. And don’t just read. Observe life around you. Pay attention to conversations, quirks, and emotions. Inspiration often hides in the smallest experiences.
3. Vulnerability
Writing that connects often comes from a place of truth, and learning to be vulnerable in my work has been transformative. It’s scary to put pieces of yourself on the page, but readers resonate with authenticity. For those just starting out, my advice is to write for yourself first. Don’t worry about whether it’s “good” or how others might react. Focus on telling your truth. Once you own your voice, your words will carry power.
Writing is a journey, and no one has it all figured out. Trust the process, keep showing up, and most importantly, enjoy the ride. Every word you write is a step closer to becoming the writer you’re meant to be.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been learning to fully trust myself. Trusting in the butterfly effect. The idea that even the smallest actions can ripple into something extraordinary…. and it’s taught me that dreaming big truly matters. I’ve realized that everything I do has a purpose, even if it doesn’t make sense to everyone else. I’ve stopped doubting my vision and started embracing the fact that if it was given to me, it’s because I’m capable of achieving it. That shift in mindset has been life-changing, and it’s taught me to move forward with confidence, no matter what
