Meet Ebony Green

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ebony Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ebony below.

Ebony, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
When I started working part time for a school as a certified speech therapist, my goal was to be able to make enough money in three days so that I could spend four days focused on being an amazing mom. But in just a few months, I realized that I’d been set up to fail. Not only did I need to work extra hours from home to get everything done, I was also only making about $20 an hour at the end of it all. After quitting that job, I started my own business and within a matter of months, I got my first $200k contract. Today, my business, CASA Speech and Development Services, has contracts with more than 12 schools and supports over 700 students across Arizona. I wish I’d thought of going out on my own sooner. In this story my advice will include: 1. Give yourself a deadline. I went on a podcast talking about my business before I’d even secured my first contract. When I found out it was going to go live in two months, I used that as impetus to get my business up and running. In the next 60 days, I had a multi-six figure contract.

2. Get out of “the system” is the most lucrative move anyone in a helping profession can make. I never would be able to bring in seven figures if I continued working for schools instead of contracting to them. It took seven tries to get my first contract, but it was worth it.

3. Stay ahead of the game. I was offering virtual services before Covid hit, so my company was an easy choice once businesses started going remote in 2020.

4. Leverage your relationships. Many clients and contracts have come to me from word of mouth. In my decade of teaching in the public and private sector, I formed relationships that I carried with me to my own business.

5. Share what you’ve learned. My continued success is in part from me sharing my knowledge. I started a second company, SLP Business Suite, teaching other speech-language therapists how to get lucrative school contracts like I did. My students have been able to secure contracts across the United States to the tune of millions of dollars.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
