We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ebony Sade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ebony below.
Ebony, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Before transitioning into a full-time hairstylist I was a corporate america baddie lol. I spent many years hating my corporate jobs but I have to acknowledge the customer service and worth ethic I gained from working there for do long.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a licensed hairstylist that specializes in healthy hair care and strand by strand extension services. I also teach other hairstylists my extension and healthy hair care techniques to help them gain a broader audience.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Customer service, continuing education classes and honing in on my target audience.
I advise anyone that’s new to cosmetology or any other service based role to master your customer service skills. Unfortunately, this industry has a bad rep when it comes to this subject matter. Set yourself apart and clients will continue to come back.
Continuing education- Beauty changes often. Staying up to date on the latest trends is imperative if you want a consistent clientele.
Target audience- Everyone isn’t for you and you’re not for everyone. Knowing who to reach and selling yourself to people who want and need your services can help you weed out chair hoppers.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
It may not be the best method for some but it works for me… I personally like to unplug or disconnect from social media and just sit in silence, taking a nap usually resolves most of my issues as well.
