Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eddie Cole. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Eddie, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” – Kevin Durant. That’s a quote I live by and also apply when it comes to my work ethic. Being a creative has taught me the importance of patience, consistency and always going the extra mile for quality work. I believe in giving my best in everything I do because I know my efforts impact others, especially when working with other creatives. My work ethic also stems from my dedication to improving the culture in Minnesota and also the country I’m from (Liberia). Knowing that every effort makes a difference in the quality of my life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a creative director located in Minneapolis, MN. I lead and oversee the creative vision of projects & brands. I work across industries like advertising, marketing, design, film, fashion or media. The most exciting part about what I do is seeing a vision come to life and the impact it has and also the influence of it. I feel like what I do is special because I’m able to express things creatively and also adapt into other industries and careers. My brand is “EDDIE COLE” which is pretty self-explanatory I am the brand and everything I do is a business itself. I’m looking forward to my next projects coming up which would be clothing collections stay on the look out for exclusive “VISIONARY” drop in the near future. I will also be coming out with a digital magazine called “KONTENT” with my business partner DK Shoots.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most important quality for me is the ability to bounce back from setbacks, criticism or failures. I would also say curiosity, having a constant desire to explore, ask questions and learn new things. I feel like curiosity fuels creativity by pushing boundaries and discovering unique perspectives. A skill that is impactful is creative problem-solving the ability to think outside the box when with challenges. It allows for unique solutions to complex issues and drive innovation. Key area of knowledge would be cultural awareness for me. Understanding of global and local cultural trends, symbol and social contexts. It allows me to create work that is relevant and sensitive to diverse audiences. Some advice I would give upcoming creatives would be stay curious always ask questions and explore new ideas. Also embrace continuous learning. Creativity is ever-evolving, so commit to lifelong learning.
