Hi Ederhumnwu , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Growing up as child in an African household has been the most challenging thing. More when you’re female child, you are restricted to setting things just so you maintain a safe space for yourself and your siblings. So my mentality was always on the side of being not able to speak up for myself or speak out about my own opinions. So my confidence as a child was really low. But as I grew older I started speaking out more and putting myself first in everything I did.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As a makeup artist and social media influencer, my journey has been all about blending creativity with the art of making people feel beautiful. I started my career with a passion for makeup artistry, and over time, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, from brides on their special day to models in high-fashion shoots.

What excites me the most about my work is the ability to transform and enhance natural beauty. Every face is a canvas, and I love the challenge of creating unique looks that bring out the best in each individual. It’s not just about applying makeup; it’s about boosting confidence and making people feel their absolute best.

In addition to my work as a makeup artist, I also create content for social media, where I share honest feedback on products and services. I believe in transparency and authenticity, and my followers appreciate the genuine reviews and tips I provide. Recently, I’ve been focusing on expanding my brand by collaborating with more beauty brands and launching a series of makeup tutorials to help others learn and perfect their skills.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are creativity, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

Creativity is essential in makeup artistry because it allows you to experiment with different looks and styles. To develop this, I recommend practicing regularly, trying out new techniques, and drawing inspiration from various sources like art, fashion, and nature.

Adaptability is crucial, especially in a fast-paced industry like beauty. Trends change quickly, and being able to adjust your approach is key. I suggest staying updated on industry trends and being open to feedback. This flexibility will help you grow and stay relevant.

Lastly, strong communication skills are vital for connecting with clients and understanding their needs. To improve in this area, practice active listening and seek opportunities to engage with others, whether through social media or in-person events. Building relationships can lead to valuable collaborations and insights.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to stay passionate, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Every experience, whether good or bad, contributes to your growth!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

In the past 12 months, I’d say my biggest area of growth has been in my content creation skills. I’ve really focused on refining my video editing and storytelling abilities, which has helped me connect better with my audience. I’ve learned how to make my tutorials more engaging and informative, and it’s been so rewarding to see the positive feedback from my followers!

I’ve also been experimenting with different platforms and formats, which has opened up new opportunities for collaboration and reaching a wider audience. It’s been a fun journey of exploration and creativity!
