We were lucky to catch up with Edgar Malave recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Edgar, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I am a photographer and video maker with seven years of experience and Life Coach too. I am a Magicomedia Show producer, Bootcamp Creativo workshop instructor and producer. I am a content creator on Instagram for some companies who pay me to announce them on my social media. I specialize in printing the brand essence on photos and videos. That is because I ask powerful questions to our clients in order to make sure the final product will be original, inspiring and aligned to brand values. I think I am known for being a charismatic man. I like magic, helping other people to achieve their dreams and going to the next level. I like to be happy and that is a constant when I do my work. I like to be original and unforgettable and that is the stamp on my projects. I always look to see beyond the evidence to create original content. The thing I am most proud of is having my wife, who is a graphic designer and co-creator of my entire brand and our final products. Together we are like a bomb. I am proud of myself too because I gave myself the opportunity to trust in this dream of living from a job that I love. I think the principal difference from others is the fact I am a Life Coach and Industrial engineer, both careers bring me a different vision on each project. That is why I am always looking to connect the message with emotions. People will forget what you said, but they will never forget what you made them feel.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My wife and I came from Venezuela, leaving behind the family and careers. We arrived in Miami specifically on Halloween day in 2015. We were living in a little apartment with no walls for five years, making a lot of effort to pay our bills and give a better life to our little girl. At that time my wife did some design work from home in order to take care of the baby girl, meanwhile I worked on different jobs: valet parking, security, and uber driver. Sometimes my brother Cisco films, who is a great photographer and videographer in Miami, asked me to help him with some projects and I took advance of learn about the business My wife edited a lot of videos for my brother, indeed she had a list of no collection work from him, and one day he told her: how much I owe you?, then she sent him the amount and he proposed to give his camera as a payment. She accepted and from that moment we started this magical trip growing and learning on this new occupation. We did could work on some photography and Videography projects when we were living in Miami, but that was not enough because of several bills to pay and not having time to reach more clients, so we decided to move to Georgia.
Since our arrival, we had been growing very fast, in fact, we came with one camera and one light. Now we have a great photo and Video Studio that have a lot of tools necessary to make great projects. I did some productions too in order to add value to our community, some of them was “Magicomedia 1,” and “Magicomedia 2” which were a Magic and comedy Show for children, both performed on beautiful theaters like Eddie Owens in Duluth and Aurora Theater in Lawrenceville. The other production is “Bootcamp Creativo” which is a full-day workshop to learn how to create content for social media and lose fear to camera. We produced three workshops until now, all of them sold out in a short time. On the present, people search us because we print originality to these projects, connecting with emotions, that is because we are life coaches too, and we can manage strategies for that videos and photos style.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The decisions that led me to where I am today were perseverance, never ceasing to dream, and never ceasing to learn in what I do.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Key individuals in my professional growth are my wife, who is a graphic designer and has always supported me in achieving my goals, and likewise, my brother Cisco inspired me and showed me the world of photography and video.
