We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Edna Mancia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Edna below.
Edna, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
Honestly, I try to turn off my computer when work hours are over because, yes, my brain needs a break from Google meets and endless emails, too. I stick to a regular running routine because it clears my head and keeps me moving. Reading is my favorite escape and a sneaky way to learn stuff without feeling like I’m working.
I try to be present as much as I can, soaking in the moment instead of getting lost in distractions. And I practice the Let Them Theory, basically letting go of stuff I can’t control, which saves a lot of mental energy.
All of this has made a big difference. I feel more focused, calm, and ready to tackle whatever comes up instead of feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. It’s about finding that sweet spot between hustle and chill so I can bring my best self every day.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I get to wear a few pretty awesome hats these days. As the account lead for the Latina Leadership Podcast, I use my digital marketing skills to help tell powerful stories and connect with an amazing community. I also get to flex my creativity and storytelling muscles through content creation that speaks to people and makes an impact. On top of that, I enjoy bringing characters to life through my acting work with my agency, Page Parkes, and bringing creative energy and on-camera presence to every project.
I’m especially excited for the upcoming Latina Entrepreneurship Conference on September 20th. It’s such an inspiring space to celebrate and support Latina leaders and entrepreneurs, and I’m proud to be part of this vibrant community. This conference is “By Latinas, for All Women.”
It’s the perfect mix of strategy, creativity, and connection, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I believe the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are adaptability, perseverance, and creativity.
Adaptability has been essential because the world is constantly changing, and being open to new ideas, feedback, and unexpected challenges helped me stay flexible and grow. Rather than resisting change, I learned to embrace it, which opened doors I didn’t even expect.
Perseverance played a huge role in pushing through setbacks and difficult moments. Success rarely comes overnight, and maintaining consistent effort, especially when progress feels slow or obstacles arise, was key to moving forward.
Lastly, creativity allowed me to approach problems with fresh perspectives and find innovative solutions. It’s about thinking outside the box, experimenting, and not being afraid to try new approaches even if they might fail.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice would be to develop adaptability by exposing yourself to diverse experiences and being open to learning from mistakes. When things don’t go as planned, pause, reflect, and adjust your approach instead of giving up.
Build perseverance by setting clear goals and reminding yourself why they matter. Break big challenges into smaller steps, celebrate progress, and cultivate patience. Remember that setbacks are part of the process, not the end.
Nurture creativity by staying curious, seeking inspiration from different sources, and giving yourself permission to experiment. Don’t fear failure because it’s often the best teacher for innovation.
By focusing on these qualities, you’ll build a strong foundation to navigate your journey with resilience, openness, and fresh ideas.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
One book that has played an important role in my development is The Let Them Theory. This book challenged me to rethink how I approach challenges and relationships by emphasizing the power of letting go and allowing things to unfold naturally.
A few of the most valuable nuggets of wisdom I took from it include:
• The importance of trusting the process instead of trying to control every outcome. Sometimes, stepping back and letting things happen can lead to better results than forcing a solution.
• Understanding that not everything is within our control, and that it’s okay to set boundaries and let go of things or people that no longer serve our growth.
• Embracing patience and acceptance as strengths rather than signs of weakness. The book reminded me that sometimes the best action is to pause, observe, and allow time to work its magic.
