Meet Edson Florez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Edson Florez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Edson below.

Edson , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Do you remember a time before you could really remember? When inspiration came from building forts out of pillows and blankets? When the creatures in a nearby creek seemed to speak to you? Not in the literal sense—but then again, maybe? I guess a part of me still imagines. That part has been challenged in many ways over the years, but the truth is, I’ve been fortunate. Fortunate to practice what I’m good at, to create freely, and to connect with other creatives—sometimes by happenstance. And though my words are few, this is where I find my purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

😮‍💨 Candidly, this will be my first unexpected interview—thanks to a serendipitous encounter through a friend I met during Covid… also very serendipitously. Is there a theme here? 🤯

This is what my journey has been like. My creative pursuits have often opened doors. They didn’t open without sacrifice and maximum effort, but I’m proud to say it’s always been worth it.

Currently, I contribute my creative skills as a Media Producer for a large automotive retail business. I take pride in my work, helping people visually communicate their ideas, initiatives, and culture. I’ve been in corporate media for some time now, but I’ve always kept a space for my own personal creative outlet—most of which I share freely on Instagram. I’ve been posting photos and stories there since 2016. 🧙🏽‍♂️ It’s quite the experience.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

We often hear the phrase, “Practice makes perfect.” The reps don’t lie. Practice builds confidence—the kind that isn’t pretentious but earned. In my journey, consistently showing up and putting in the work, even when results weren’t immediate, I was always moving the chains forward. No matter what you pursue, a little discipline goes a long way.

And you can’t go the distance without belief. Rosa Parks said, “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear.” 🌱 When I fully committed to my creative path, doubt became less of an obstacle. If belief diminishes fear, then time after time, challenges will be met with fearless and resilient adversity.

For anyone starting out, trust the process. Pursue your goals like Christopher Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness—relentlessly. Learn your craft. Stretch a little further each time. Stay consistent, because growth happens in the moments when no one is watching. 🧞‍♂️

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

There’s so much left to create and share—to continuously inspire and be inspired. I’m looking forward to collaborating with others through photography, filmmaking, and more. To foster meaningful creative connections, I’ll be launching a website where I can share projects and invite others to contribute.

This process with Journey has inspired me to take that next step. Thank you all for your time and consideration.

To connect further don’t hesitate to say helllo! You can find me on IG @follow_ez, or reach out for creative collaborations at [email protected].
