Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edward Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Edward, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience was forged in the fire of life’s toughest trials—and it lives in every drop of what I create.
I was disowned by my own family, cast off when I needed love the most. That pain could have broken me, but instead it ignited a fierce flame of self-reliance. I learned that my worth didn’t come from blood, but from the values I chose to carry forward.
Beating cancer felt like climbing the highest peak—then realizing the mountain keeps shifting. The daily side effects reminded me that victory isn’t a single moment, but a series of small battles won every day. Facing fatigue, aches, and uncertainty taught me patience, humility, and compassion for anyone fighting their own hidden war.
Growing up, I was told I wouldn’t amount to anything. Those doubts stung, but each discouraging word became fuel. I turned every “you can’t” into a challenge, proving that persistence and belief in yourself can silence even the loudest critics.
Now, I pour all of that hard-won strength into my work. Whether I’m blending a new linen spray, hand-crafting soaps, or designing labels, my creations carry pieces of my story. I hope they remind you that beauty can rise from pain, and that every scar is proof you survived.
These experiences taught me:
– True resilience is built in the quiet moments between battles.
– Empathy grows from understanding your own struggles.
– Pouring your heart into something transforms hardship into hope.
My promise is to help others feel seen, supported, and inspired through every scent and every detail. Because if I can turn loss, illness, and doubt into something that brightens your day, then every step of this journey was worth it.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Every candle and bar of soap I create starts from scratch with pure soy wax, plant-based oils, ethically sourced butters, and essential oils, so you get a truly natural, high-quality treat for your skin and senses. I hand-mix each batch to ensure consistency, then add an artistic twist like swirls of botanical petals, hand-poured layers topped with dried lavender or citrus zest, and custom color gradients that make every piece one-of-a-kind. By sourcing locally and refining each recipe myself, I keep prices friendly without sacrificing craftsmanship, and because creativity never sleeps, you’ll always find fresh seasonal scents, limited-edition designs, and playful new releases popping up regularly.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In business, you thrive by refusing to give up, embracing failure as a lesson, and daring to try new approaches. Every unexpected challenge is like finding a rough, shiny rock: at first it looks daunting, but when you pause to examine what worked, what didn’t, and how you felt, you uncover insights that guide your next move. By identifying positives in each setback and honestly naming the friction points—whether gaps in resources, timing, or communication—you can refine your process and strengthen your resolve. Over time, these cycles of challenge and reflection polish you and your business into something smoother and more resilient. And by inviting feedback, celebrating every hard-won win, and creating a safe space for experimentation, you empower others to harness the same mindset of growth and transformation.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I only had a decade left, I wouldn’t change a thing.
I wouldn’t race to see the world or chase things that never held meaning for me. I’d keep doing what I do: making by hand, pouring heart and soul into every bottle, every bar, every scent.
I’d double down on the making—crafting even more, sharing even more, not because time is short, but because love is long. Every smile from someone who connects with what I’ve made, every memory sparked by a candle or a spray… that’s why I do this. That’s what matters.
Having come through the kind of battles that leave scars—surviving cancer, waking up from a coma—I live with the knowing that this could all end in a blink. And still, I choose creation. Still, I choose connection.
If my time runs out, let the last thing I leave behind be something that makes someone else feel seen, soothed, loved. Let the room smell like peace and intention. Let the flame dance a little longer.
This isn’t just about products. It’s about presence. Legacy in small batches. A goodbye woven gently into lavender, citrus, and cedar.
I’m not here to just count time—I’m here to make it count.
