Meet Edwin Lafontant

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edwin Lafontant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Edwin, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

As a kid I used to just sing my dad’s favorite songs while he’s listening to them. Then watching boy bands on mtv through my teens. Once I turned 21 I just started going to bars with karaoke and started singing songs in front of people and it felt really good to hear people loving your style and voice on the microphone. Deep down inside I always wanted to create my own music and one day be good enough to have my song as a karaoke request.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My artist name is S3nsation and I’m a singer and mostly focused on pop and r&b. I would like to be heard in little restaurants, book stores, and most of all be on the radio. Perform live is awesome and wouldn’t mind doing that one day as well.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say just to be them self and get up in front of a crowd. Show them what you got and if it feels good doing it. You should continue and develop your skills with practice. Also writing down your thought and feelings. Then eventually a song will just pop into your mind and the beat will be next.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I would say my cousin Trevor Joseph has always been a creative person and saw I wanted to do something with music. Then randomly started working me at a young age. Things like listening to beats and coming up with the right tone. Making the words make sense while singing on the right key. These are things that helped me get better because singing someone else’s song isn’t as easy then making your own.
