We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Edwina Price. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Edwina below.
Edwina , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I come from very humble beginnings. We lived a comfortable life; however, we certainly did not have access to wealth and riches. Nor did we have or experience “the finer”’things in life. Even being a lower income family, I witnessed my grandmother and parents doing a lot for others. Our home was a safe haven for lots of people.
When I got older I realized that my parents did the best with what they had and I always wanted more for them.
Every time I encounter someone who could use a small blessing, a helping hand or just a simple act of kindness – it’s easy to give that because I know what it feels like to be in their shoes.
I love being generous, because it makes people feel seen, heard and loved – and I truly believe that is why Jehovah God placed me here.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the Founder of How in the HEALTH, LLC – which is a wellness brand and consulting business that promotes everything health and wellness.
I focus a lot on educating and providing resources to minority communities. My recent series, have focused a lot on mental wellness. I will be launching my calendar for 2024 soon and hope to collaborate with new organizations and businesses to influence a wellness culture throughout the nation.
I am working on a few projects with organizations and look forward to sharing our work with our audiences. I also coordinate with non-profit organizations to increase fundraising and outreach efforts. I look forward to the growth and expansion, for a much greater impact.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back the three qualities, skills or areas of knowledge that were more impactful in my journey were – discipline, confidence, and operations.
For those early into their journey discipline is an essential trait of any successful individual. A disciplined person is a focused person. You have to have the wisdom to be able to cut distractions, stay the course and create boundaries – not only for others, but for yourself.
Confidence is vital. Confidence NOT arrogance. You cannot expect people to believe in you and your goals if you don’t believe in yourself. You walk into every room like you deserve to be there. Never show your hand and lead with the end in mind.
Being skilled in operations can make business management a lot easier. The mistake many aspiring entrepreneurs make, is not having a clear business plan nor structure. They also lack the ability and resources to effectively run their business. Not having insight on operations will lead one to make premature decisions that can be detrimental. That “start somewhere, you’re figure it out” statement is subjective. Don’t allow fear to debilitate you, just know that research and mentorship can go a long way. To know the operations of your business(es) is working smarter.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
As a wellness ambassador, these are such befitting questions.
When overwhelmed, it’s extremely important to literally stop and breathe. If possible walk away from the task and get some fresh air.
Mindful meditation is a great way to recenter yourself. Decide what needs your immediate attention and what can delayed.
